Review of A Reason...
Review by dreamlike
Rated: E | (4.0)
This is a compelling story! The author manages to create tension that adds to the sory's suspense and heightens the quality! The reader is lured and held captive by the suggestiveness. It is not stated what exactly was done nor exactly what the promise is about; yet the story is spine-tingling and exciting and compels the reader to ride its wave to the end.

This is an interesting story and has a lot of truth! However, the plot needs to be expanded in order to strengthen the story. I liked the reality ending and got a chuckle from it.

This is an interesting and powerful poem! I can identify with the fear of a child from the sense of being overpowered and controlled by giants! The giants that I think of are the emotions that a child carries and yet does not understand nor can always put words to them. I am excited about the child now become a man; thus moving from victim to victor; now able to slay the giants and thus become the master of himself.

Review of Permission Sir
Review by dreamlike
Rated: 13+ | (4.0)
This is an interesting piece! It speaks of pain and fatigue and anguish! It also speaks of a dream and the hope of fulfillment! I like the words permission sir; as it speaks to a request to identify the pain and the disappointment that takes place throughout the struggle; gracefully asking to disclose the contents of the heavy heart. I liked the end because it looks toward someone else as light; requesting a symbol; a reason to believe. The frazzled believer wants to; needs to believe again .

Review of Life's Short.
Review by dreamlike
Rated: E | (4.0)
This is a spiritual poem and conveys a powerful message! The author appears to urge readers to step out of their feeling of self-importance to allow themselves to reap the blessings of redemption and freedom of spirit! Jesus as our Lord and Savior has the key to lift us and to keep us safe from harm! It is neccesary for us to remove vanity and self-centeredness in order for us to be spiritually and to truly enjoy the gift that Jesus Christ has bestowed upon us!

Review of Patient Sins
Review by dreamlike
Rated: E | (4.0)
This is an interesting and tragic story! Each patient was remembered by the receptionist for a specific personality trait or appearance. All of them were in the doctor's office for various reasons. Reasons which were not especially earth shattering or strange.
Yet each person met their death shortly after. One might say that this impacted the receptionist profoundly as it had not been too long ago that she had seen and spoken to each of the victims. One might says that it speaks of the unexpectedness of life situations. What had been a routine day ended up as a shocking horror story.

Review of It's Toothy Grin
Review by dreamlike
Rated: E | (4.0)
This is a great poem about time! It speaks to the passing of time and the events that take place as time pasees. Time marking life and its transitions; quickly; steadily and continously. Eomotions are caught; experienced and then forgotten as time speeds on taking life's journey, moment by moment. Moments passing and becoming nothing more than a reflection of what was and what is now no longer.

Review of Simple Reminder
Review by dreamlike
Rated: E | (4.0)
This is a poem that speaks to the complete involvement of loving and being loved. It also dares to separate the lovers from the outside world as they find comfort and pleasure and safety in each other's arms. The world of love is everything for them and they are loving being enveloped in a sea of love that obliterates anything that threatens to invade or change or erase its power.

Review of Freedom
Review by dreamlike
Rated: E | (4.5)
This is a powerful story! The author conveys the message with adjectives that tell the story with accuracy. The theme is felt throughout the story and the woman's fear and embarassment and humilation is highlighted. However, it is the ending that hits the mark when the woman manages to give him the letter; the statement of all the feelings that she has held within and never expressed; it is this that seals the power and magnititude of the lesson that has been learned and the freedom that finally is hers.

Review of The Orchid Bride
Review by dreamlike
Rated: 13+ | (4.0)
This is a moving, bittersweet story about a young couple in love! The author portrays the innocence of naivete and expectations expressed in the excitement of the movement as well as the reality that sinks in later. The memories that Fatima has and nurtures speak to her heart and its hopefulness although the life was a struggle and a financial burden. The ending spoke to a ongoing hope and remembrance of her home as well as the future of having fresh clear water aftr all.

Review of Coming Home
Review by dreamlike
Rated: 13+ | (4.5)
This is a moving. compassionate and stirring story! The author introduces the elements of time; change; loss, memory, death and return. Each of these elements add something to the story. Time and change remind me of how the man changed when he returned to his wife. A change that became unbearable to her and ended with a divorce. Memory is present in thoughts about the child and the time the man spent with the gentle woman; times that were precious and rich. Death referred to the child's death and the death of the marriage although the man returned to his wife. The last word return spoke to the man's return to the woman he loved; to the grave of the child he had known and to the peace of being with the woman who made him feel right at home.

This is an interesting; but hard to follow at times. As far as the greatest mistake that David made; I am not sure unless it is giving away his land to his adopted sons. The twist was perhaps the mother of David's two sons who is said to have been the real enemy. This story is quite detailed and the author takes pain to list all of the family members and their connection to the family and its generations. I find some of it confusing because I am not clear on how it all connects. The part about the desire to have children and the steps that are taken to have children is clear however. The children and their children and the grandchildren refer to the carrying on of the family name. It is a story of love of family and this is evident throughout.

Review of Slaughter House
Review by dreamlike
Rated: 18+ | (4.5)
This is an excellent and intriguing mystery! The author manages to blend mystery, horror and darkness into quite a story! The cynicism of Janet was replaced in the end by fear. Janet's determination to see the deal through is stated clearly by the author. All the strange happenings that take place and cannot be explained by Janet's attempts to reason add to the richness of the intrigue.

Review of Stroke of luck
Review by dreamlike

What a great, funny and comedy of errors story! The author does an excellent job of presenting Phil and his many mishaps! I laughed throughout the story! It certainly appeared that Phil was truly a bungler even when he attempted to avoid this role. This is a colorful story even unto the end. What irony that when the poor bloke finally does get a break; his life ends in another mishap. Still, how much more irony is the fact that his friend benefits big time from the fatal photograph. My revoew has been submitted for consideration in item: 451035) (/b)

This is a powerful and soul-stirring story! The author managers to paint a vivid picture! The picture is one that speaks through the eyes of active addiction and through recovery. The author reached out to someone who once had been struggling too; however, this time, the person was not ready or able to receive the help. I agree that God's grace is all around us but sadly some of us are not open to receive it; at least not at that particular moment.

This is a bittersweet love story! The author does an excellent job of describing the young woman who loves the young soldier. The author identifies the pangs of shyness and akwardness; as well as the intensity and power of the feelings. The gentle manner in which they connect to each other is very stirring. The manner in which the young woman finally declares her love and the young man his; makes for a warm and tender moment. The best is the end statement where the young man opens the letter and declares his mission is to come back to the one he loves. What a romantic!

Review of Writer's Block.
Review by dreamlike
Rated: E | (4.5)
This is a very moving story! The author does an excellent job of identifying a mother's conflict and worry about the cares of daily life. The author also describes the dread that the writer has as she is unable to come up with a story! There is truth expressed in the desire to escape from the heavy pangs of everyday life and often we are overwhelmed. The author expresses this accurately. The most beauty, for me; takes place when the mother makes the decision to enjoy the life that she has with her children; in spite of the illusion of total freedom as a robin. The insight that she obtains and accepts her role as a parent as a gift and a treasure not to be replaced or forfeited.

Review of Petals and Thorns
Review by dreamlike
Rated: E | (4.0)
This is an interesting poem! It speaks to the natural state of things and to our need and desire to change them. Whether it be to catch its life and prolong it or to admire the object we take. It appears that even though we know that some things die if they are removed from their natural habitat; as humans, we quickly forget and in the end regret.

Review of Playing With Fire
Review by dreamlike
Rated: 13+ | (4.0)
This is a powerful and sad poem! The author impacts the reader more by actually giving details of the real event! Sadly, enough this is just one example where what could have been prevented happend and lives were lost. There was a warning about the levees in New Oreleans also. When tradegy strikes; blame is shunned; excuses are made and often corrective action is little, slow and maybe even too late. How often does man's vanity and arrogance lead to death and loss! As far as I am concerened; it is too often.

Review of Passerby
Review by dreamlike
Rated: E | (4.0)
This is a sad yet powerful poem! The author speaks of time passing by and of meaningless being an aspect of things! There is also mention of redemption but then the contradiction stating it means nothing. It is true that all of us travel through time and end up somewhere different from where we began. However, we still can touch other lives and make impressions as we pass people on our way to whereever it is we are headed.

This was a thought-provoking story! It has intrigue and mystery! What an interesting secret that came out in the middle of the story! The way that the story took on a different twist illustrated the creativity of the author! The ending was really something and spoke to obsession even after so many years!

Review of Potential
Review by dreamlike
Rated: E | (4.0)
This is a sensitive piece! The author uses images that remind me of a mirror which reflects all of the possibilities for us! The author speaks about fear and stretching ourselves; about courage and risk-taking even when we are not sure of the outcome. Our lives are delicate if we fear to reach for the utmost that we can become. It is when we give up in defeat that we are shattered like glass.

Review of Screaming Kettles
Review by dreamlike
Rated: 13+ | (4.5)
This is an exciting, wild and scary story! The fact that it is based on real events adds to the impact that it has on the reader. It is not unusal for teens to do daring acts. This act represents more than just taking or making a dare. The author refers to the boy's abandonment by his mother and the abusive treatment of his father; all of which may have added to the boy's desparation to be a part of. The boy was in conflict and it revealed itself as the train sped down the tracks. The sad part of it is that the young boy was willing to risk his life just to be part of something. This speaks to mankind's need which is evident in childhood and less obvious in adulthood; but is a dominant need and is answered in whatever way the person who has the need deems necessary. Thank goodness that the boy was able to achieve his goal without losing his life.

This is a simple, gentle and moving poem about God and nature! The author is excellent in describing nature and uses descriptive language. The author appears to refer to the wind as alive and vibrant and moving and powerful; in being able to gently tap against the window pane. The author continues to be in tune with nature when referring to the leaves and the wind chimes. It appears that the author takes in the majesty and wonder of nature and attaches God's power to it all. God uses nature to touch the heart and to send nature's message of vibrancy.

Review of Meeting Jesus.
Review by dreamlike
Rated: E | (4.5)
What a beautiful poem of praise and faith! The author uses poetic language in a wonderful way. The author also manages to describe the vulnerability and fragility of man's character in a firm, yet forgiving manner. The Divine, in this case, Jesus, is exalted in a worthy manner. The author also illustrates the idea of forgiveness and unending love! The author's desire to be like Jesus comes through in a clear and faithful and determined voice!
