This is a lively story and certainly has a lot of images! I was not quite certain of the connection of the events but at the end; it struck me that all of this was the father's drunk story that was based purely on alcohol influence and impact. The author appeared to introduce the drinking father almost as an afterthought.

Review of A Peaceful Place
Review by dreamlike
Rated: E | (4.0)
This is a very soothing poem! The author uses languages that covers the heart like a soft blanket. The author describes the world outside and many of the things that take place; all the time cherishing the peaceful place. This place is safe from chaos and confusion and is possessed by whoever manages to find and claim it.

This is an interesting horror story! The horror is illustrated by the author's details of the creature and its parts and its actions. The author describes the Jenny as a curious person who got trapped inasmuch as Jenny could not physically remove herself after seeing the damage that the 'thine had done."

Review of TOO COCKY BY HALF
Review by dreamlike
Rated: 13+ | (3.5)
This is an interesting story about a bird and its relationship to man! Actually, not an ordinary bird but one that talks and one that is brilliant in color and lively in personality. The author attributes a lively nature to the bird and certainly a bird to be reckoned with. The long and deadly beak demanded its own position and was ready to take it if it was not freely given.

Review of Grace.
Review by dreamlike
Rated: E | (4.5)
This is a beautiful poem about grace and it speaks to a power greater than that of the human heart. The fact that it comes from a Deity that loves and forgives again and again already speaks volumes. The human restrictions and requirements such as expectations of return favors or deeds is only in the realm of humanity. The All Infinite and All loving God has grace that has no boundaries and this is why it is outside the realm of mankind and only in the Higher Realm of Divinity.

Review of The Rain
for entry "The Rain Dance
Review by dreamlike
Rated: ASR | (4.5)
This is a wonderful inspiring story! The author paints a clear picture of an old, weary, depressed, distressed and hopeless person. The author evokes compassion as the story continues. The introduction of the child is always hopeful; (at least to me). As the author described the child's singing there was a rise in the old man's spirits. The fact that the young girl did not scream or run but approached the old man further touched his heart. The climax was the gift and it is interesting the color that the author choose for the umbrella. Red refers to richness and vitality and how fitting that the young gives the gift of hope and possibility for a better life to an old man.

This is an interesting story and though it is not a stand alone piece; for the purpose of this review I will treat it as such! The author illustrates anger and vengance at its highest peak as a result of loss. The author also allows another character to attempt to reason with the one who would seek vengance and as a result of this; time was won. During this time; the daughter was able to reflect of the possible consequences of her potential behavior and she was able to let the intensity of the anger go.

This is a moving. awesome and inspiring story! The author tells the story with powerful adjectives and strength! The intricate details of the soldiers physical and emotional journey are stirring and full of emotional! The way the story flows is smooth and curt at the same time, weaving together all the various feeling waves that soak the story. Truly, the flag does wave for the hero; not only in the story but in his memory as well.

Review of Rachel's Habit
Review by dreamlike
Rated: 18+ | (4.0)
This is a sad story and the author presents a dilemma which appears not to have an easy solution. The time that Rachel asks her friend and gets angry afterwards; speaks to Rachel's inner struggle. The story seemed like it could have had more depth. However, the author presents the issue of drugs and running away from reality in a strong manner.

Review of Magnet & Steel
Review by dreamlike
Rated: 18+ | (4.5)
This is a beautiful and stirring love story! The author does an excellent portrayal of the wife's struggle and the way that she handles it. The author also illustrates the impact of memories and the difference between the time period; then and now. The decision to go to the party and the subsequent ability and need to re-evaluate things was an excellent example of reflection of the past and the present and power of the present.

Review of Rain
Review by dreamlike
Rated: E | (4.0)
This speaks to the many aspects of rain. Some are exciting and others are mundane. The slippery road is exciting although it can be perilous. The raindrops can be soothing and the rose that has been beaten and defeated by the rain; all reflect various aspects of rain; nature's servant.

Review of coming back
Review by dreamlike
Rated: E | (4.0)
This is a beautiful and moving poem! The author speaks to true love and its ability to endure; its tenacity and its need to be forgiving and tender. The author also refers to arrogance which tends to have us put ourselves on a lofty plane; without just cause; rather for our ego. I like the fact that the separation was only momentarily. I also like the author's statement about being loved for the man that he is rather than the man he wants the world to see. Truly to be able to love one; seeing the flaws; the problems and still be there and be joined through the heart is wonderful indeed!

Review of Boxes
Review by dreamlike
Rated: 13+ | (4.5)
This is a very sad, powerful and moving story about the relationship between a mother and daughter! The author uses adjectives that evoke pictures of two women involved in an intense relationship! The many mistakes and consequences of the mother are described in detail and illustrate the mother's struggle and frustration. The author also depicts the mother as loving and worried about her daughter. As the mother reads the daughter's diary and comes across the cruel words over and over again; an image of a distorted, pained young face comes to my mind! The author clinches the ending with the mother's realization of the impact of her life and how her daughter has become the caretaker for her. The author does an excellent job of describing what has turned into a co-dependent relationship. Since the mother re-packed her daughter's things; the message for me is that she is now attempting to free her daughter at last.

Review of Spirited
Review by dreamlike
Rated: 13+ | (4.0)
This is a lovely story! The author's language and use of adjectives paints a wonderful picture! The author also brings together two different and separate time periods in a powerful way. This allowed the young girl to experience the magic of another time; create a beautiful memory and return to the present time where life was going on as usual. I enjoyed the escape that the author provided for often it is the escape from today's hectic and often frightening pace that allows us to remember the beauty of times past.

This is a moving and compelling story! The author's use of language creates vivid images and captures the reader's attention! The author paints a picture full of sweet memories and a full life. The devotion and dedication is shown as the author refers to the kissing of the picture. I am not sure of the ending but I surmised that her husband is dead; I noticed mention of the flag which I believe is given at the burial. How moving and poignant is her effort to continue a routine that has been interrupted by death.

This poem is sad and despairing! The author is clearly descriptive in talking about the disregard and pain and degradation that was shown to the victim. The person was indeed a victim and it seemed that the vulnerability of the person got the best of them; so much so that the only way out was an escape that was tragic indeed.

Review of wrath

The author certainly sends the message of anger and vengance! It seems violent and perhaps that is how it is supposed to be. I would have liked a softer tone in seeking the revenge effect.

The author gives a very detailed description of nature and the specific aspects of it; such as the flowers; the water and the branches of the tree. As I read, the words feel melodic and trance like. The author is very in tune with each part of nature and the events that take place; such as the doe and the waterfall. Overall, there is a sense of tranquility with the world.

What a sad and tragic poem! The author paints a graphic picture of a person filled with despair who is neglected and abandoned beyond words. The author also describes the plea for help from a friend; a friend who gave some help but not enough. The final tragic loss resulted from too little and too late indeed.

Review of The cost
Review by dreamlike
Rated: 13+ | (3.5)
This poem appears to speak to the decay of the world and the sadness that exists. The author refers to the heart that is close to extinction and it makes me wonder if this means the hope that is almost gone. There is contrast between life and cancer and war and death. The theme seems to be the fight against endless destruction.

This is a sad and tragic story! The author gives an apt description of the patient and the psychitraist. The ultimate conclusion that I came to after completing the story was this. No matter how long or how many patients a doctor such as this has treated; one cannot truly fathom the mysteries of the mind when they are covered in the dark shadows.

Review of Beautiful Anna
Review by dreamlike
Rated: E | (4.0)
This is a stirring, and moving story! The author tapped into my personal sense of loss; with the description of the way the teacher handled his loss. The act of returning to normal routine struck a cord with me and reminded me of several losses that I experienced and how I handled them. The author gives an excellent narrative of hiding the pain or at least covering the pain. The ending shows hope for healing as the pain is allowed to be released!

What an interesting and though-provoking story! The author packs this story with excitment and unexpected twists and turns throughout its entirety. The author evokes anger and sympathy as the story unfolds. I am spellbinded by the description of the events and the actions that take place throughout. What a surprising ending! Powerful story indeed!

Review of Face of a Man
Review by dreamlike
Rated: 13+ | (4.0)
This story is intriguing to me although I am not sure that I was able to understand the total plot. The author presents an interesting story about a man who appears to be disguised; even from himself. It appears that the man is disconnected but has a make-believe family which consists of photographs that he has taken over the years. My sense is that he really has no family but puts photographs together and presents them to the world as his family. In reality; he is truly sad and alone.

Review of Gold!
Review by dreamlike
Rated: 13+ | (4.0)
This is a good mystery! The author gets right into the swing of things with the woman being furiously pursued. The momentum continues to rise as the author continues the story. The reflections of the woman in the cab also intensify the mystery and the excitment. It saddens me that the woman has waited so long and in the end of the story; the fate is sealed.
