On the Altar

Written for One who is loved dearly.

Feverish heat of night
into misty dream of dawn
Your presence lingers, trapped
in my senses

You know my innermost thoughts
long before i speak them -
Drawing me out when i would hide
opening me up, breath of life

As you move in closer, tracing
anticipation, caressing my desire
Have i ever been touched ...
yes, must remember to breathe

Lip quivering as i bite down
knowing all that i need
Beyond all thought of denial
yielding with my smile

And as my heart races
you consume my senses
Remember to breathe!
feel that rush, quickening

You whisper for only me
words floating across longing
Aching reminder of passions
long since thought forgotten

Your gaze holds me, unrelenting
seeking what you already know
Answer in the breath, i am yours
no thought of fear, on the altar.
