A monorhyme poem about being promoted to prefered author and given a yellow briefcase |
| "MY YELLOW BRIEFCASE" I sit here aglow That one would bestow This fine, beautiful yellow To cover my drab stucco. My cargo Is far from sallow, It's the brightest glow Found in the rainbow. It was just a moment ago I was labeled a sideshow, But with the change of my deco, I am now a hero! I did not foreknow The great ones would hallow My substance with such a glow; My love for them does grow. But I must prevent my ego To swell and mind to plateau, Lest I hinder myself to grow; For I will always be callow Till the day I can fly like a sparrow. 3rd Place in Charles Monthly Poetry Contest |
