The great spaghetti ban. |
| There was a king who did a strange thing concerning a food that was dear; he made an order that blatantly said, “No more spaghetti this year.” Pasta his bane in his kingly reign, he made it so perfectly clear; his prohibition was thoroughly read, yet people thought it severe. He had to form a force that would swarm the restaurants people revere; and even though they found slices of bread, there was no spaghetti near. How the folk balked and O how they talked, and many grabbed saber and spear; it was spaghetti that kept them well-fed, so they advanced from the rear. Onto the court they pressed on like Gort,* (that robot who many did fear); they made demands that the king show his head-- alas, he would not appear. Yet then a foe thought it apropos to temper the mob’s scowling jeer; so with his arms out he cordially said: “I have spaghetti in here.” 24 Lines *Gort is a fictional humanoid robot in the 1951 film, The Day the Earth Stood Still. |
