Dad's Messy Hands

Dad in the kitchen.

He got three sticky fingers
when he reached into the honey.
He was sweet and gooey
and we thought it pretty funny.

He reached into mustard
and at once his hand turned yellow.
He did not get angry
since he was a mellow fellow.

He tried squeezing ketchup
but at first it wasn’t flowing.
Then it came out quickly
and the red he was a-knowing.

Then he saw the twins a-staring
at his hands all messy.
Still with messy hands he
waved at Jimmy Lee and Jesse.

Naughty dad once in the kitchen
fixing food for snacking.
The messy prize he wins hands down,
for neatness he is lacking.
