Dare you enter these caverns? A poem relating to depression. |
This poem was written for
The prompt words were FIND, THIRTEEN, WRITE (This poem is written as freeform) The door creaks open, Darkness blinds. What in this cavern will you find? On hollow pathways Of this mind. Thirteen cats in empty halls, A marketplace devoid of stalls. Ghost ships sail in to the night, A sheaf of poems I tried to write. Memories torn in fists of rage, An actor on a broken stage. Calendars, The pages Gone. No love, No dreams To carry on. Bitterness and un-cried tears, Photographs of faded years. Once the lover, once the child Deep within these things are filed. Castles stretching to the sky Turn to dust before your eyes- I’d advise you get out fast- This place was never built to last. 26 lines |
