An Ode to Poets

Accolades to all Poets

Being a poet is much like being a Football player
Thousands write poetry, but few achieve fame
Many sweat and agonize but seldom are they recognized
The writing, the game instills determination and character

Our failures bring more determination and character
But few are chosen to rise to the next level
But that never stops us in creation of pride, of joy

You cannot make a living from being below fantastic
You cannot excel if you are not recognized
Even those who rise a level or two cannot make a career

The few who succeed to the NFL still aren’t all stars
They may make a living but that is all
As in football only the elite are recognized as stars

But have faith for joy & success is in the effort
The doing, the trying, the sweat, the tears
Have faith and persevere, without you we are nothing,
