Thank you all so much for my birthday wishes!!
Back from a wonderful week in Spain. It wasn't too hot so I could enjoy the sun, sea and mountains with no bother. Came back to find the sheep had been moved back into the field opposite, with their new lambs! Spring sprung while I was away *Smile*
Has anyone else never heard of The Black List? It's a screenwriting site that offers over 100 free, legal screenplays for download. The list includes a wide range of choices, from Hollywood blockbusters to small arthouse films.

I've just started my two-week screenwriting course and thought I'd share this gem! I think it's a great resource for dialogue if nothing else!

Thank you for my birthday messages! I went to Kielder forest and had a wonderful time walking by the lake, taking photos and admiring one of the darkest skies in England

Please take a look at my first writing prompt of the next 52 weeks...

I'm working on the second as we speak.
Ray Bradbury:

“Write a short story every week. It's not possible to write 52 bad short stories in a row.”

So, starting tonight- I'm 385 words in- I'm writing a short story a week. Feel free to hold me to account *Smile*

It's a great idea. I should follow suit. Oh, and it sounds like something you could do in conjunction with "Give It 100!Open in new Window. *Angelic*
I spoke to a young man that did this for a year and the next year he had enough material to self-publish a collection. You could do worse! Good luck Lox.
I have tried it thrice and have failed every time. But i did have the many stories. Around 23, i could manage.

Just been to a talk called "How to Promote Your Book" - my WORD I have a lot of work to do!

.
The talk sounds like it was very interesting, Lox. I'd love to read over her notes too, if you receive anything. *Smile*
No problem- I hope she does. It would be very bad PR for her not to
*Smile*
Thanks so much. I'm glad you enjoyed her talk. It sounds productive!
Thank you everyone, for your patience as I have been mourning the loss of my brother. I shall be catching up on emails and so on throughout the day. *Heart*
So sorry for your loss Lox, *Hug**Heart*
It is with a heavy heart I let you all know my brother passed away last Tuesday. He had been given six months to live, but that was only seven weeks ago. I doubt I will be very active for the coming week, and I apologise in advance if I do not complete anything I said I would, everything is a bit of a blur right now.
As David said, take all the time you need. There's no time limit on grieving, and something like this affects all of us differently.
Your brother is looking down on you right now, so hopefully you can get some peace from that.

Aw, so sorry to hear that. Our thoughts are with you and your family. *Heart*
Hey, everyone!

I've got a number of short horror stories I'm polishing up, but I seem to be hitting a wall finding somewhere to get them published, or contests to enter them in. I can find a few pretty seedy looking places, but I'm looking for respected, professional anthologies, magazines or contests. Preferably in the UK, but as long as they accept entries from a UK resident, I'm open to anywhere!

Lox, have you considered the pro and semi-pro magazines? Lightspeed, Strange Horizons, Analog, Clarksville, ect? If you go to the SWFA website, you will see a list of top-paying magazines that will be likely to accept horror stories.
Thanks Uncommonspirit Author IconMail Icon I hadn't thought of those. That's a fantastic idea!
Thank you to The StoryMaster Author IconMail Icon and The StoryMistress Author IconMail Icon for my wonderful postcard!

*RainbowL* It was such a perfect surprise*RainbowR*
