I find it hard to write at the moment. Not because I have writer's block; there are all kinds of ideas swirling around in my head. The problem is that the drain pipe under the kitchen sink rotted through in a bunch of places and it took a lot of work to patch it last week. My hands ache and it hurts to type. Sad thing is, there were more holes in that pipe I couldn't see and now I am going to have to tear out walls to patch more. That isn't going to make my hands feel any better. But hey, if I ever wanted to write a scene about a house falling apart and all the joys and agony and angst of doing repairs myself and the distress of not being able to afford a plumber, well, I won't have to make anything up.
Oh yay, I got my octopus (costumicon) back!!! The month is already starting on a positive note *Smile*
I have had the most horrendous writer's block lately, and barely could do anything since I was sick in early December. So I am looking forward to the pressure of writing daily stories for the "Invalid ItemOpen in new Window. which should get me kicked back into gear. We must make my goals this year. Yes, we must.
My book of mad little stories for daily endurance writing contests called "Invalid ItemOpen in new Window. --- and yes, I did make that word up --- was nominated for a Quill Award in the category of "Best Short Story Collection".

This is awesome and unexpected, but do you realize the significance of this? Some one has actually looked at that book !!! Wow.
My octopus swam away. I am sad.
Woohoo, I was ranked "#84 Public Reviewer for the month of December 2013".
I've added a new entry to "Invalid ItemOpen in new Window.: "Invalid EntryOpen in new Window. one of which is unwritten, and that is to stay positive. That being said, I sure the (bleep) hope I don't screw everything up like I did last year.
I started a blog a few days ago --- been meaning to do so for years. It already has 4 hits, thank you everyone for looking. There aren't actually any entries yet. Maybe I'll make one after 10 hits.
It has 5 hits now. :)
Woohoo!
I think my new bad habit may have turned bad. I bid on a PBX and a payphone. I need the PBX so all my phones can call each other, right? And I need the payphone because, well, I don't need a payphone but they are pretty cool. Just to invite someone over and see their reaction, "Is that a payphone?" Hell, I can't find a payphone in the city so it would be cool to have one in my basement. See what I mean? I've lost it.
Gee. I always start out my stories so subtle:

"Susan liked sitting along the edge of the swamp at this time of year, careful to avoid eye contact with the flesh-eating swans."
Yay. Got my octopus back.
Who doesn't love a bloodthirsty gargoyle assassin? Working on a novel, I developed a more direct nemesis and for the "Invalid ItemOpen in new Window. I wrote a little vignette of some of his work. The twist? The contest disallows any prose regarding what a character is thinking. I used to be criticized for leaving thought out of my stories, and that they all seemed like movies. I have been working on that, but removing all thought from a story was a bigger challenge than I expected.

for considering in the "What a Character! : Official WDC ContestOpen in new Window. . I have been doing some different things lately, trying to stretch my boundries. But they resist!
I know I am not supposed to research until I am done with my first draft, but I looked up vintage telephones and I know I shouldn't have. I love those things! I want to buy about ten of the off eBay and find a book how to restore them so they all function. I have been plotting all the places I could put them throughout the house. I don't think I'd actually use them regularly, I have a modern cell phone like most people, but just to be able to pick them up, hear a dial tone, and slide my fingertip in the rotary dial to make a call would be spectacular.
Waiting so impatiently for the judges to hand down their verdict for the "Journey Through Genres: Official ContestOpen in new Window. competition!!!!
