 November is National Novel Writing Month! "NaNoWriMo" What is NanoWrimo? National Novel Writing Month is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to novel writing. Participants begin writing November 1. The goal is to write a 175-page (50,000-word) novel by midnight, November 30. To make things easier for all of you, we've assembled a variety of items to help you along your novel-writing journey! 1) Are you Prepping? Grown to more than 200 participants since 2008. 2) 5th Annual NaNoWriMo Write-A-Thon A fundraising competition to write NaNo novels and earn GPs for great Writing.Com groups at the same time!

4) NO NOVEL NANO! Join the fun! Goal 50K in November but NO NOVEL. Write what you want and count your words. Prepare now. Build up momentum. Aim high and have fun.
5) Writing.Com Lounge From Nano-Newbies to Nano-Oldies, introduce yourself, exchange ideas, ask questions, etc. Groups and individuals are welcome to post links to their nano groups and nano activities.

 Authors will now receive notifications in the left column's  when they receive a new rating on any of their items. Ratings are no longer anonymous by default! The notification will include the giver's user tag just like the other notifications. (Past ratings-only remain anonymous and are not affected by this change.) Members with a paid membership do still have the option of checking the "Make Anonymous" box to leave an anonymous rating. In this case, the notification will show "Anonymous" rather than the giver's information. The first time you "rate-only" something, you'll receive a pop-up warning reminding you about the change. This is a one-time only warning and is only for members with accounts created prior to today. (Newer members will not receive this notice.) Nothing about reviewing has changed. This update effects the action of leaving a rating without a review only. Review emails will continue to come for reviews and no new notifications have been added for the ratings that come with a review; the email continues to be the singular notifier for those.This has been well test, but if anything seems out of place, please drop a line in "Bug Reporting" .Write on, ~~SM |
| I'm not sure how many of you know this, but Writing.Com is a family-business, run by a husband and wife team. We are known on Writing.Com as StoryMaster and StoryMistress, a play on "webmaster" and "webmistress" way back when. Thirteen years ago, we started and built our writing community with everything we had and we're still going strong. It means the world to us. We received a video tonight from members of our online community... I can't even begin to put into words what this did for our hearts. Seriously, I can't. I was welling at less than a minute and then the "thank you" closer really got me. So, a huge shout out to the Writing.Com fans who put this together secretly and just so beautifully... THANK YOU.
