A place to keep my personal thoughts.
My thoughts, like teardrops, splash onto the page, causing a rippling effect that disturbs the calm and quiet.

Guilty pleasures. What are three movies, books, television shows, music artists, and/or games you're afraid to admit to other people that you actually really enjoy? Why do they appeal to you?

My guilty pleasure television show is Degrassi. I have watched it since I was a kid and am just as interested now that I'm an adult. I wouldn't, however, want my friends to know that I enjoy such adolescent things.

My guilty pleasure game is definitely Guitar Hero. I can waste hours playing that, especially when I have a lot of important things to do. It seem like the more I have to do, the more appealing the game is to me.

My guilty pleasure music artist is Milli Vanilli. Every time I hear a song by them (which isn't often), it takes me back to high school and no worries. And I really liked their music, even if they weren't really the ones singing. *Blush*

Write about a time where you overheard or saw something you weren't meant to. What was it, and - in retrospect - are you better off or worse off for having overheard/witnessed it?

Oh, there have been so many! The one that first comes to mind happened about a year ago. I was at school, studying for finals in the law library, and a rather snooty classmate was studying nearby. I could easily hear him, but I wasn't visible from where he was sitting. Out of nowhere, he started talking on his phone. Although he was talking quietly, I could easily hear because of the quiet atmosphere.

I wasn't deliberately trying to eavesdrop on his conversation, but when a stack of book about the law of the UCC are in front of you with the words blurring together, anything seems more interesting. To make a long story short, I found out that the short, dumpy guy and his wife were swingers! I mean, this was a guy who looked remarkably like a young Ben Franklin! I never let him know that I overheard the conversation, but I'm sure he noticed the blush creeping across my cheeks when I talked to him thereafter. Needless to say, I think I would have been better off to have blocked out the conversation and kept reading.

What's your opinion of reality TV? Love it, hate it, indifferent to it? Why?

I don't necessarily like reality TV. I think most of it is far from realistic and is just as rehearsed as any other type of entertainment. I loved American Idol the first few seasons, but it soon lost its appeal. I do still enjoy the true crime shows on Investigation Discovery *Smirk*, but, other than that, I would rather watch something else or curl up with a good book.

If you could live in any fictional world (novel, movie, television show, comic book, etc.) which world would you want to live in and why?

Hmmm. I'm trying to think of a world in which I wouldn't have to work, would be rich, have good health (for myself, my family and friends), wouldn't gain weight, would always be happy...

OK, I give up. And I'll pick Smurf village. *Laugh* I have no clue why I chose that. But I do look good in blue. *Pthb*

Even though there's no legal/copyright protection for ideas themselves, do you think it's morally acceptable to take another writer's idea and write your own version of it without permission or giving them credit? Would you find it more or less acceptable if that person weren't a writer or artist themselves? Why?

I think it's according to the extent of the other person's idea. For instance, if one person had an idea to write a book about a detective who is actually a serial killer (hmm, not a bad idea), and another person does just that, I don't think the idea was developed enough to constitute stealing the idea. However, if one person has an elaborate idea, and another person uses it to write their own version of it, I find it morally unacceptable. It would make no difference if the person weren't a writer or an artist. In fact, the minute that person begins to write the story, he or she becomes a writer.

How would you get away with the perfect murder (or bank robbery if you prefer something less... homicidal)?

I have watched quite a few crime shows on Investigation Discovery *Smirk*, and I think the perfect murder would depend on whom I decided to murder. The person's popularity would be a huge factor in determining whether or not I would get caught.

That being said, I think my best bet would be to murder someone with no family ties who isn't very prominent in the community. As for a burial site, I would try to find a construction site and just slip the body in before a building is erected. I know, I'd probably get caught the next day, but it sounds promising. *Pthb*

Do you have any tattoos or piercings (other than your ears, ladies)? If so, what have you had done and why? If not, would you ever consider getting a tattoo or piercing? What would you get done and under what circumstances?

I have no tattoos and no piercings (other than my ears). I'm pretty boring. *Worry* I wouldn't consider getting a tattoo, as I have never been interested for various reasons (the pain, the permanency, the need to cover them under certain circumstances, etc.). As to piercings, I'm not as opposed to them, but I wouldn't want anything extreme. Maybe a navel piercing would be ok. I think eyebrow piercings are sometimes cute, but I would never do that, because it would be considered too unprofessional in my career field. *Frown*

If you could assign someone else a New Year's resolution that they HAD to keep, who would you choose, what would you assign them, and why?

I'm writing my Day 1 entry last, because I'm already almost 24 hours late. So much for the "stop procrastinating" New Year's resolution. *Rolleyes* Anyway...

I would assign a resolution to the accountant at my office, and the resolution would be to stop being so closed-minded. I realize that she grew up in a small town (so did I), but she is SO judgmental and unwilling to adapt to changes. While I respect everyone's opinion, I think they could keep it to themselves, especially when it's hurtful to others.

I have a gay man working at my office. You couldn't ask for a better person. Yet, she constantly belittles homosexuals, going so far as saying they should all be put on a deserted island together. She speaks of blacks being with whites as if it's the equivalent of capital murder. The love of my life is a black man, and I'm white. He dogs anyone who buys a vehicle that isn't American made. I could go on, but I'm afraid I'll have to punch her in the face when I get to work tomorrow if I do.

Wow, I'm not as sweet when I'm sick. *Smirk*

If you suddenly came into a large sum of money (inheritance, lottery, etc.) that gave you just enough to pay off all your debts and buy one luxury item for yourself of any size and scope... what would that one luxury item be and why is it important to you?

Wow, that's a tough one! I would most likely buy an airplane, even though I have no interest in learning to fly. As an attorney, I have to travel out of state a lot for depositions, and I have a friend who has his pilot's license, so I could talk him into taking me to them. Add to that the fact that airplanes have an outstanding resale value, so I think it would be a practical choice.

What a day! Not only did I eat a HUGE Thanksgiving dinner, I have also done a lot of work here over the past 24 hours. *pats self on back* I re-opened "OOT's Weekly Raffle and have already sold several tickets. I'd like to give a shout-out to GERVIC 🐉 House Targaryen , Alexi and Marci Missing Everyone for the tickets they purchased. Thanks, guys! *Heart*

I did my first review for "Invalid Item, and I will be doing more in the near future. I also did 6 newbie reviews today. But I didn't stop there! Realizing that I hadn't written anything new in FOREVER, I decided to check out the daily contests. First, I wrote "Miscommunication for "Daily Flash Fiction Challenge. Once I got my creative juices flowing, I kept going.

I wrote "Thanksgiving for "The Writer's Cramp. I didn't realize it would be so difficult to write something without using the letter 'o'! I (think I) managed to do it. After finishing that, I still had a little fuel left in the tank, so I wandered over to "Invalid Item. I remember discussing our mutual love for horror with Angus months ago, and I promised him then that I would enter the contest at some point. Well, that point was today! My final piece of the day was "Thanksgiving Massacre. It was much longer than the stories I usually write.

It felt good to write again. Hopefully, it will get me back in practice, because The "Invalid Item Contest starts soon! *Worry*

I hope everyone had a wonderful day today! *Heart*
