Dream Catchers An ancient Chippewa tradition The dream net has been made For many generations Where spirit dreams have played. Hung above the cradle board, Or in the lodge up high, The dream net catches bad dreams, While the good dreams slip on by. Bad dreams become entangled Among the sinew thread. Good dreams slip through the center hole, While you dream upon your bed. This is an ancient legend, Since dreams will never cease, Hang this dream net above your bed, Dream on, an be at peace. |
Nothing to do with writing prompt —but hubby coming HOME tomorrow {/center| |
Prompt: Write about the noise or silence that won't go away The Silence That Roars An empty house. Hubby is still at Keck Hospital of USC in LA. I have the dogs and the MDs are starting to talk discharge now. I am very excited. The house has been empty for 4 months. This loud roar wakes me every morning at 1:30 am. I will be glad when it is gone. Good times are in the horizon again Kristina |
Hi ya'll, Hubby made it through surgery just fine. Now to the prompt: Pepsi or Coke—now this made me chuckle! (I needed that) I and my hubby are country all the way. It is Coke and peanuts mixed. One of the funniest memories I have is when we went to the A&W drive-in one night. I was to be home at ten. Well—on the way home the rear tire fell off the car. I had to call my dad from someone's house and of he didn't believe me and did I ever get in trouble. But coke and peanuts—no better combo |
Prompt: If you had to choose an animal to represent yourself, what would it be? I think the operative word here is choose. If I could "choose", I would choose the horse. I think they are not only very strong but the most graceful and beautiful animal on earth. But—having to pick what I think most is like me, I would have to say the cat. Be it domestic, lion, tiger or panther. I'm good if not wrongly crossed, if so I will bare all claws. I hate to admit that, it is the truth. I am surprised I am even admitting this myself. I'll just pretend I am like a horse with cat-like qualities |
Well, I guess I am sort of behind and ahead all in one night. Writing Space Well, mine is special to me. Since the absence of my hubby (he is still in Keck Hospital of USC in LA) I spend a lot of time in our bedroom. My desk is there. I open the drapes to the glass doors overlooking the pool where a lot of incentive comes from. Of course, I am totally equipped! I have a printer, monitor, keyboard, radio, t.v., bed, laptop. all my books(just bought a new one GOOD! (on occasion Beer ) you name it. I am proud to say the rest of the house is spick and span I write everything here. I am currently working on a novel with the Novel 101 group and am having a blast. I even wrote a murder scene- I never knew I had that in me. I will try to be better about staying current |
Comfort food I have to say the first thought that comes to mind is chocolate. But—not just any chocolate. It has to be See's Chocolate. My favorite are Carmel and Mocha crèmes. Every year since I was a child, my dad put a two-pound box under the Christmas tree on Christmas Eve. To this day I cannot pass Christmas without carrying on the tradition. I always think of him even though he has since passed. Then there is the Mexican food and Friday nights at Jimenez Mexican Restaurant. Every Friday night my dad took us out for dinner. I grew up with the young girl that waited on us. (Her parents owned the restaurant) My mom always got what she wanted on that night, furniture, dishwasher, various other things. I must say I can't carry on that tradition but it is fun to think about. Jimenez has since gone out of business, but it is a fond memory. These are my memories |
Prompt: If you had the choice, would you forget the worst that ever happened to you and all its repercussions? I think everyone would like too, but I think the question should be SHOULD we. By forgetting the bad does not allow us to appreciate the good things in life be we would not have a comparison. Kristina |
Hi everybody, I must say that I really love today's prompt: LIFE WITHOUT ELECTRICITY Well now where do I begin. I have been there, seen that and done that. My secrete is, shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, looking both ways, I cheat! Being a survivor at heart, a person that has lived in the mountains for months at a time. I have a generator. I just haul that puppy out, hook it it up and I am good to go. Lately though, I have acquired a habit that I cannot do without: my computer. So when I am forced into that situation I have to pick my hours in respect of my neighbors. It is a nuisance but it is survivorable. Ice chests, wood for burning, cooking stove, blankets, candles, and a lantern is all that is needed. Kristina |
