They say your brain is split into three parts. For us writers they include: Just Writing
Hi guys! You've just found the Jlog of Jade Amber! Now you might be wondering: "What in the world is a 'Jlog'?" Well, a jlog is a mash of journal and blog. Since they give you an option for a title: Journal/Blog, I decided to mash them together! Hence the name 'Jlog'. So please enjoy a cup of Joe whilst you read and I will try to remember to 'Jlog' every day. While we're at it, enjoy these quotes I found online:

Wake up with determination, go to sleep with satisfaction.

Be happy and smile.

Don't call it a dream, call it a plan.

Life is tough, but so are you. -Stephanie Bennett-Henry

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment or the smallest act of caring, which all has the potential to turn someone's life around. -Leo Buscaglia

I whip out my phone. *Laugh*

Just kidding.

I don't have a phone. Yet.

...

I just wait until the person or someone in the group I'm in starts up a new conversation.

I'm not one for starting conversations, unless I'm talking with my best friends.

So, if I'm in a group or am with someone, it's always the other person that starts the conversation.

I just keep the flow going.

But, the best thing about not always starting the conversation and being the person that talk, talk, talks, is that I'm a good listener.

Because of all practice of being silent, if someone is crying and needs to talk it out, they can come to me and talk it out.

So, yes, there are pros and cons about being an introvert, ups and downs, pluses and minuses.

Pluses: We are quiet when we want to be quiet. That's why so many introverts are at libraries. I'm sorry, there are so many introverts that live at libraries.

We didn't or don't talk to strangers.

Cons: Sometimes, when we're young, we don't talk, resulting in the parent having to translate.

When we get picked on because we look weird or have this disability, causing us to talk funny, we don't stand up for ourselves because we're shy.

In order for us to make friends, someone has to come to us and talk to us, asking if they could be our friend, not vice versa.

But, I'm sure in due time, I can have the ability to turn from an introvert to an extrovert in the blink of an eye.

I know I have that in me, I just have to have the chick to know it's time to peck its way out of the egg, so it can see the real world.

Hello sports fans!

I'm Jade Amber Jewel, and boy, what a night this was for the New England Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons.

If you happened to miss the game, or are not interested, do not fear, for I am here!

Atlanta was off to a good start and they even made some great plays!

Like in the 2nd quarter, Robert Alford, for the Falcons, made a magnificent interception in which he made an 82 yard touchdown.

And who was the person that threw that football that made all Falcon fans go wild?

Tom Brady.

The man himself, practically the MVP of the Patriots.

But, of course he didn't let that play mess up his chance to lead the team to their 5th Super Bowl win.

Even when it just didn't seem possible, he made it possible, to turn the score from 3 to 28 into 34 to 28.

What a loss for the Falcons.

I even heard that there were people who wished that the Patriots would give the win to the Falcons, since the Patriots had 4 Super Bowl wins and the Falcons had none.

But Tom and the Patriots kept this game intense with a capital "I".

Our hearts were running marathons, we felt like we were running from something horrible as fast as we could with all the heavy breathing and pounding hearts.

Then the score was tied with a score of 28 to 28.

And this game, Super Bowl LI, was the first ever Super Bowl to have an over time.

But, even though, even though the Patriots won, in my book, that didn't count.

Now I don't want to have arguments in the comments talking trash about what I said.

In my book, if the score is tied, everyone wins.

So, in my book, since I said that the win for the Patriots didn't count since it was over time, I say that they both win.

Case closed.

They technically share the trophy.

But, off of my book, good job Patriot fans.

But soon, I have a feeling that soon, maybe next year, the underdogs, like the Falcons, will be the top dogs.

But now, I'm rooting for the underdogs in every football game.

This is Jade Amber Jewel of WDC Sport News.

Thanks for reading.

Pretzels.

Pretzels and a Dr Pepper or some water, if I had enough money.

Or some pretzels and chips or candy, if I don't want to have to go to the bathroom on the way where ever I'm going.

And if you're like me, then you sometimes like to think ahead.

Like, say you want some soda, coffee or water, but know that when you drink a lot, you have a tendency to have to go to the bathroom a lot, and you have a long trip ahead of you, so you decide to skip the drink and go with the snacks.

That's what I sometimes do on long car vacations.

I skip the drink and just get a snack, because as you all know, liquid goes down a lot quicker than solids.

Yes, welcome to your science class. *Wink*

Just kidding.

I like to play a lot, can you tell? *BigSmile*

So I can sorta tell that you kids want some alone time to argue with my idea for a snack or say that my idea is better, so I will leave y'all alone.

Adults.

You think they grew up, but they're still kids in bigger bodies. *RollEyes*

"Mom! The cake's caked!" said Duchess, the only woman in the house besides Mom.

"Cool," said Bryan, "You maid two cakes, Mom?"

"No, what I mean is the cake's stuck to the pan! I can't get it out! Mom!" Duchess cried out, desperate for Mom to hurry up.

"I'm hear. Now, show me the patient!" Mom said with a wink and a grin.

She's a doctor, so any problem we have that she can fix, she says "Show me the patient."

It took a little investigating, but Mom had the cake out in no time.

"Cool! I call dibs!" yelled Bryan.

"Not so loud, you monster of a brother! You'll wake up Dad!" hushed Duchess.

"Oh, the poor Daddy. Would he like to miss eating this cake? No! DAAAAAAAD!" screamed Bryan.

Dad stumbled down the stairs, and by the look on his face, nothing could cheer him up after what Bryan did; not even cake.

"Good morning, Stephen. Sorry you woke up so early. Want some-"

"Not interested." grumbled Dad, looking around the room to find out who woke him up. "Did you wake me up? HUH?!" he pointed at my chest.

"N-n-no D-d-dad. I-i-it was-s-sn't me. I-i-it was-s-s B-b-bryan." I said. I was trying to hold back my stutter so I would talk like I didn't do it, but with a bad stutter like that, people could be misled.

"You liar! I ought to beet you to the bone, you-"

"Stephen, stop! It wasn't Kyle. It was Bryan, Kyle was telling the truth." Mom said, I'm glad she could help.

Dad took one look at Bryan and Bryan knew right then and there that no one is supposed to wake up the grizzly without an emergency at steak.

Oh what fun it was to watch Dad chase Bryan around like a dog chasing a cat.

Duchess and Mom and me laughed and laughed until Dad got tired and went to bed, with Bryan trailing behind, with his head drooped down.

After the hubbub, we finished making the cake in silence until Duchess cracked a joke that maid us laugh so hard, we had to go outside so we wouldn't wake up Dad.

I can tell you this. This day was one of the best days ever in a long time.

Urgent!! Please read if you just read the post below!

I'm so so sorry!!!

I forgot that my Dad is taking a break from 30DB, so if he does post a blog entry, it won't be about his handle.

Sorry that I misdirected y'all. *Blush*

I feel terrible.

Like a mouse who just saw a big cat and wants to crawl into it's hole.

If you want to know why I copied his idea, read on.

His handle is Jay O'Toole and if you take the j, o and t, you get JOT. Neat, huh?

Anyway, sorry that I misdirected y'all.

I guess today isn't my day.

The story behind my handle is... not very long. *Laugh*

Anyways, I decided I wanted to have my handle say my username, Jade Amber Jewel, and also have it say my occupation.

For example, during Christmas Time, my handle was: Jade Amber Jewel, Santa's Elf.

The reason was I was helping one of my friends pick out Christmas presents for the whole family, Mom, Dad and Me; and I felt like one of Santa's Elves.

I later shortened it to Jade Amber because the handle that I had was a rank handle: Jade Amber, Ensign Write, and as you can see, there is a "last name".

"Why the 'Ensign Write'?" you may ask.

Well, as you may know, my dad and I, my mom also, are fans of Star Trek.

My dad watched the Original Series when he was a kid, same with mom except she watched it with her dad.

So, they introduced me to Star Trek when I was younger, I think, and I think I was scared, because I was scared of sci-fi when I was young.

Weird that I like it today, huh?

Anyway, the lowest rank that you can have on a ship is Ensign.

But it isn't the lowest rank.

It was the lowest rank I could think of, but then I remembered about people being "Cadets".

So, I changed it to Jade Amber, Cadet Write, and that's what it is today.

In six months, I'm going back to being an Ensign.

"But wait! Jade! You didn't tell us why you have two last names!"

Well, unknown reader, I have two last names, Jewel and Write, because I wanted my username to be like a name, so since I had a first and middle name, I needed a last name that compliments the two, so I thought Jewel!

Now the Write last name is mainly for my handle.

See, my goal on this website is to become a better writer so when I get older, and possibly famous as an actress or otherwise, I can write books for my fans, or write them just for fun.

So, I have the last name Write because, one, I want to become a good writer and two, it gives you a slight nudge towards my oldest handle: W.R.I.T.E.R.

Now, I won't tell you why I made that handle because my dad, Jay O'Toole , can tell you about his in his blog post.

Here's a hint why I won't tell you: I copied the same idea from him.

But, I will tell you what it meant.

It took me a while for me to come up with meanings of the letters, but I did it so it talked about things I liked or was like.

W stands for Water. I love the ocean, and even though the closest thing I have to an ocean is our neighborhood pond, I still wish we lived near the beach.

R stands for Run. My dad ran marathons before I was born, so I like to run local 5k's. I try to practice every day.

I stands for Imagine. I imagine almost all the time during the day, whether it's for fun or for this website.

T stands for Thunderbird. Favorite Fantastic Beast bird. Has six wings, can create storms by flapping and can sense danger. Better to have one by your side than against you.

E stands for Ember. I have a fiery temper, so it's no surprise that I'm drawn to things of that nature. Though people keep on saying I'm like water, mainly because I'm calm most of the time.

And last but not least, R stands for... Read? I can't remember because it's been a while. Everything else was easy, but not this one, so I'm guessing it's "read", because I like to read.

Anyway, thanks for reading the backstory of my handles!

I enjoyed writing this as much as I hope you enjoyed reading this. *BigSmile*

They told us to review an item from the 2016 Quill Awards.

And since I could not review my dad's portfolio *Wink*, I decided to review something else like a blog!

Kit of House Lannister 's sequel blog, to be precise.

Review of "Whiskers and Tails - The Sequel"

I decided to review Kit of House Lannister 's blog because...

Well...

We both like cats...

Okay, lame response, but it was all that I could find in common with her.

That, and we both love Star Trek... *BigSmile*

Lots of Trekkie writers...

Anyway, I couldn't find out how to review the single post, so I reviewed the whole blog and told her which piece I was reviewing.

(Still a newbie... *Blush* need help...)

Now for the Quill Awards, I haven't been nominated, yet, but for an outsiders perspective, it's like this.

You look through your portfolio or another person's portfolio and figure out which piece should be nominated.

I myself, nominated my jlog...

Pride much?

I feel like I'm better at blog entries than short stories or poems, but in due time, I will feel comfortable with all three of those.

Same with reviewing, I'm better (in my opinion) with reviewing blog posts instead of stories or poems.

But hey, I'm still a newbie and a lot can change in just a few months, so watch me grow! *BigSmile*

So, now that we're done with January for 30 Day Blogging, I decided to give myself a prompt for today!

...

Yeah, that didn't go so well, 'cause I didn't look. *RollEyes*

That explains why there's no prompt. *FacePalm*

...

I jammed my fingers while practicing for our friend's upcoming Super Bowl Party.

...

This isn't working.

...

Hey...

I got it!

30DB!

Let's talk 'bout that!

Now what to talk about...

"If I'm going to do it for next month."

Yes and maybe.

Yes, because I loved the prompts and without them, my month wouldn't be filled up with entries.

And maybe, because if I want to enter, there's a raffle and a fee that you have to pay with the entry.

Thankfully, Fivesixer has told me I can still be a part of the 30 blogging and not pay the fee, but I will not be included in the raffle, or whatever it is.

So, I'm thinking I'll do it, not for the whatchamacallit, but for fun, and so I can have something to do throughout the month.

Yeah, I like to keep myself busy. *BigSmile*

Having people to support you in anything you do is like certain bands and singers.

If the singers don't have people playing instruments in the background, it will sound like us, copying what the singer sung and the sounds in the
background.

Plus, in between those parts where the singer stops singing and it's an instrument solo, it would be a silent solo without any music.

And the basketball, soccer, football and hockey players, they can't play a decent game 1 on 1.

Well, if we can, maybe they can too, but who would want to watch two people battling over a ball or puck.

It's like, if one team wins, only that person wins, but if you have a team, you can share the glory of a win.

Same with baking, you can bake a batch of goodies by yourself, if the people who are getting the cookies are patient, don't know that they are getting
cookies, or it's a slow day of work, but if you have a team, you can half the work so the cook won't have to cook and cashier everyone who walks in the
door.

The list of teammates needed to do every job or activity keeps going on and on.

Builders.

Shop clerks.

Engineers.

Technical crew.

Actors/Actresses.

Movie crew.

It's almost endless.

So, as I've heard, "Teamwork makes the dream work!"

John Hurt died at age 77 on Friday, Jan 27th of this year.

He was famous for memorably dying on screen in "Alien" when the alien burst out of his stomach while he and his friends were eating lunch.

He is also famous for his roles in "Midnight Express" in 1978 and "The Elephant Man" in 1980.

He was born Shirebrook, which is a coal mining village in Derbyshire, England, in 1940.

He was originally going to be an artist, but when accepted to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, started his work on stage in the 1960s.

His first role on the screen was "an angry young man" in movie drama, "Young and Willing" and in "A Man for All Seasons" he played a major role.

He fully debuted to the public when he played Quentin Crisp in the 1970s T.V. play, "The Naked Civil Servant".

The good roles just kept coming for him!

His roles in "Midnight Express" and "The Elephant Man" that I was talking about earlier?

He got Oscar Nominations and a Golden Globe for "Best Supporting Actor" in "Midnight Express".

He was the person who could easily portray characters with problems and it's said that he has died, on screen, a total of 47 times. *Shock2*

But, he also got comedic roles such as playing the role of Jesus in Mel Brooks' "History of the World: Part 1" in 1981.

He appeared in the first two Harry Potter films, playing wand maker Garrick Ollivander.

His top T.V. roles were Caligula in "I, Claudius" in 1976, Gen. Woundwort in "Watership Down" and the War Doctor in "Doctor Who".

He was married four times and was an alcoholic until 2005.

I'm Jade Amber Jewel, reporting for WDC News.

Thanks for reading.
