"How great the multitude of truths which the garment of words can never contain! How vast the number of such verities as no expression can adequately describe, whose significance can never be unfolded, and to which not even the remotest allusions can be made! How manifold are the truths which must remain unuttered until the appointed time is come! … Of these truths some can be disclosed only to the extent of the capacity of the repositories of the light of Our knowledge, and the recipients of Our hidden grace."
Baha’u’llah34

At sunset today, Kalimát--the month of Words--ends and Kamál--the month of Perfection--begins. Thank God for new months. Today, I'm on the verge of tears. I've been dealing with people all day over things I can't do anything about because I have no money in the bank. I'm tired of dealing with people. I'm going to take a mental health day on Friday, because on Thursday I have a doctor's appointment.

To Do List for my Mental Health Day

*BulletBr* Turn off cellphone.
*BulletBr* Unplug house phone.
*BulletBr* Say prayers.
*BulletBr* Read scriptures.
*BulletBr* Review comedy and/or spiritual items on writing.com
*BulletBr* Write poems.

"The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate."
Oprah Winfrey

Praise and celebrate,
raise your voices in praise and exaltation
to the difficulties you have overcome
to achieve success.

I write,
therefore I am.

The only way I know how to celebrate
is to continue writing

PROMPT: July 29th - Reflect on the month as a whole. Any highlights from your personal life? Challenges? What were your favorite prompts from the 30DBC? Did you learn anything from or about your fellow competitors?

The highlight for July is finishing thirty poems to the Bicentenary of the Birth of the Bab and placing them in "Bicentenary Poems and Prose. Making a doctor's appointment with my primary care physician on Saturday, July 57, to have one of my prescriptions filled. I normally don't make doctors appointments on a weekend, but I need the prescription filled so I had no choice. I didn't see the doctor, but I spoke with her nurse practitioner. The only other interesting thing was the invasion of grasshoppers, they were mostly on the Las Vegas strip and in the richer areas of town.

My favorite prompts were the alphabet prompt and the vacation prompt. I read some of the entries, but not a lot of them. When I read an entry I will like it; however, I don't always comment. I always attempt to read Robert Waltz because he always gives me something to think about. At 72, I need to keep my mind active and working.

PROMPT: July 28th - What does “vacation” mean to you? Alone time or time with friends and family? Staying close to home or traveling far afield? Spendy or thrifty?

I remember the vacations of my youth,

fishing,
swimming,
and water skiing.

I remember a vacation
when Mom and I

Now
my vacations are virtual
going to places across the planet

PROMPT: July 27th - If you were to give a TED talk, what would it be about?

I could talk for eighteen minutes about almost anything, as long as I didn't realize I had an audience. When I'm consciously aware of an audience, I get stage fright. As long as I can talk without having to look at the audience I'm fine. As for the subject, I could talk for eighteen minutes about writing poems when you're dealing with writer's block. I could also talk about overcoming stage fright because I did a lot of research on the subject, none of what I've learned has helped me, but it might help someone else.

*BulletBr* It's said that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Describe something that you think is beautiful or attractive that someone else might consider unattractive or ugly.
*BulletBr* What historical event or events, besides your own birth, occurred on your birthday in the year you were born?
*BulletBr* Describe an epiphany "a moment when you suddenly feel that you understand, or suddenly become conscious of, something that is very important to you"5 that had a profound affect on your life and/or personal opinions.
*BulletBr* Life is a Journey. Who has had the most influence on your life's journey up to this point?

Describe an epiphany "a moment when you suddenly feel that you understand, or suddenly become conscious of, something that is very important to you"6 that had a profound affect on your life and/or personal opinions.

I've had several epiphanies that influenced my life and my opinions. One of the earliest--that I can remember--happened in grade school. It was a weekend in summer, my siblings and I were at the Lake (I don't know the exact name because we always called it "The Lake".), and staying at my Grandparent's mobile home. The neighbors, who had the mobile home next door, had invited a Japanese friend to stay with them for the weekend. The gentleman was nice and polite, someone who would make a good neighbor and an enhancement to the community.

Grandpa Frank shocked me when he used a derogatory term and a hate filled voice to refer to the gentleman. He said, "Why did they have to invite that _____!" I had never heard Grandpa use that tone of voice or a derogatory term to refer to any human being. The results of this incident cause me to look a little more closely at the things I was being taught both at home and in school. It taught me not to accept other people's opinions about any human being, but to determine an individual personality and value for myself.

PROMPT: July 25th - Ask someone you trust the following question and write about their answer: “What are my best qualities and what are my worst qualities?”

Good and Bad Qualities

At 72, I've gotten to the point where I don't (most of the time) care what my friends, family, or acquaintances think my best and worst qualities are. I'm sure that if I ask three different people, I'd get different answers from each of them. I know, from years of experience, that my worst quality is procrastination. As to my best quality, steadfastness or what some might call old fashion bull-headed stubbornness. My mother always told me I took after my father when it came to stubbornness steadfastness, and, since my parents were married for several years, I suspect she got to know him fairly well.

Day 2043: Write a blog entry about what happened in your life today.

Today in My Life

I woke up. I whispered a prayer. I took my first med. I dumped myself out of my recliner. My cane and I hobbled to the bathroom. I got dressed. My cane and I returned to the living room where I put on my support stockings. I, more or less, folded my bedding, put the items in a large black plastic trash bag, and set it on the recliner. I opened the front door, I said another prayer. I made coffee. I got two doughnuts out of the refrigerator. I filled my writing.com travel mug with hot coffee. I reviewed "Stalk Home. I put my phone on the charger. Now I'm composing this blog entry. Once I've finished this entry I will decide what to do with the rest of my day.

It's a cloudy and humid summer day here in Las Vegas. After the postal delivery person comes, I'll take my walker and check the mail. The dream I had last night or early this morning told me I'm supposed to be expecting money or a check, therefore, I will act like the check is going to come today, tomorrow, or next week and check the mail everyday. As one can tell, from this entry, my life is full of excitement.

PROMPT: July 23rd - Write about a fear you experienced as a child that you have since overcome.

Overcome Arachnophobia

I overcome arachnophobia, or am in the process of overcoming it. I am now capable of killing most spiders without much difficulty. Sometimes I still get chills up my spine when I see one of the little bitches, but I'm working on that. I haven't encountered on recently that I can't kill if I have my shoes on or a heavy object in one of my hands. I don't set up screaming if I feel one crawling on me in the middle of the night, most of the time I can brush it off of me.

I still turn the bathroom light on before going in, but most of the time I don't look up at the ceiling expecting to see one. I've come to the conclusion that spiders aren't out to get me, they just want to live and hunt. I don't want them living and hunting in my apartment. If I see the web of an orbe-weaver spider outside, I won't destroy it. In most cases I will admire its beauty, especially on morning when the dew makes rainbows in the web.

PROMPT: July 20th - Write about some of the words that were introduced in the year you were born according to Merriam-Webster dictionary by referring to the website below:

Words Coined in 1946

So many thought provoking words to chose between. I'm not saying I'm a logophile, but I certainly don't suffer from logophobia. I have both the Oxford and Collins dictionaries saved to my Web Favorites. I saved this web page to my Web Favorites, so now I have three dictionaries I can access online. I will check this page again to investigate the other words.

zombify: "to turn (an active alert person) into a zombie"7
unclichéd: "not hackneyed or unoriginal : not clichéd"8
roadkill: (1) "the remains of an animal that has been killed on a road by a motor vehicle"' (2) "one that falls victim to intense competition".9

Zombify and roadkill sounds like two words that could come in handy during the next presidential election. Especially when it come to writing political poetry, and--while I attempt to avoid political arguments--I have been known to write political poems. I picked unclichéd because I like the sound of the word. You know how that goes, sometimes you hear or read a word that leaves pleasant echoes in your thoughts, and that what unclichéd does.

DAY 2435: “I like good strong words that mean something…” ― Louisa May Alcott, Little Women
What are three or four strong words? Why do you think they are strong?

Strong Words:
Unity, Love, Equality, and Questions

Unity, love, equality, and questions are interconnected, because they are spiritual attributes that can be expressed through human interaction and material civilization. Questions is a strong word because it encourages human beings to investigate scientific, religious, and personal truth without depending on someone elses opinion. Equality--whether it is gender, racial, or another aspect--is necessary for individuals to attain their full potentials as human beings. Love, when it is unselfish, is the magnet that draws people together in unity.

"The utterance of God is a lamp, whose light is these words: Ye are the fruits of one tree, and the leaves of one branch. Deal ye one with another with the utmost love and harmony, with friendliness and fellowship. He Who is the Daystar of Truth beareth Me witness! So powerful is the light of unity that it can illuminate the whole earth. The one true God, He Who knoweth all things, Himself testifieth to the truth of these words."
Baha'u'llah10

Weekend Plans

My plans this week end is to attempt to write 6-8 poems dedicated to the Bab to celebrate the Bicentenary of His birth. I have finished 40 poems, and need to finish 160 more before October 29. I have to proofread the letter from the editor for Spiritual newsletter for the Deadline July 29. The only other things I'm planning on doing is surveys and review. The weekend devotional at the Las Vegas Baha'i Center will be on July 28, so I probably won't leave the house this weekend for much of anything. It gets too hot here in the afternoon to do anything outside.

DAY 2434: "People who follow all the rules and chase every trend tend to get forgotten - they look great, but they're not as memorable." ~ Dita Von Teese What are your thoughts about this trending quote? Are you a rule follower or a rule breaker?

Following the Rules

To follow the rules,
or to break them
that is the question.

Is it better to follow the rules
or to break them?

Is it better to break the rules

That depends upon the circumstances

PROMPT: July 17th - Describe the earliest memory you have.

I remember riding in Grandpa Frank's car down a dark country road on the night of a full moon. The copses of trees were growing at intervals along the road. The full moon cast the tree shadows across the road and the car. We were going to the Chitwood farm, cousins on one side or the other.

When we got to the farm, the adults played cards while we children played hide-and-seek. This was the night I decided to hide in a old Frigidaire setting on my cousin's back porch. My grandfather found me hiding in the refrigerator and took me out. I'm not sure how old I was at the time, maybe about three or four; perhaps younger. I remember my mother was expecting one of my siblings.

DAY 2432: Everyone keeps telling me grieving is a process and I'll be fine. I have this overwhelming urge to test the legal system by committing murders and pleading insanity What are my odds on winning. How do you cope with insensitive people?

Grief is movement
through a swirling fog
walking form an old normal to a new normal.

Grief is something one survives. It is a process that continues, in different forms, for the rest of a person's life. My mother died in 2012, I'm still mourning her death, but in a different way than when she first died. I'm can laugh when I remember some of the things she did. I cry when I remember other things she said that I would like to know more about.

There are groups to help those in mourning through the process to find a new normal. The groups work for some people, but not others. Sometimes it's easier to talk to a stranger about the emotions grief raises, and sometimes it's easier to talk to a friend or family member. The process of mourning is an individual experience, which one deals with on a daily basis. Sometimes it's better to write about it, other times it's better to find a quiet place to cry and pray.

Day 2036: "Literature is one of the most interesting and significant expressions of humanity." P. T. Barnum
Write anything you want about this.

I'm not sure whether I agree or disagree with this statement. Literature is wonderful, exciting, creative, encouraging thought, and challenging a person's opinions. How significant expression of humanity it is depends upon the author and the reader. Each individual had to determine how significant Literature is in their own lives, I've found some piece of literature quite significant, while others don't seem all that important.

PROMPT: July 16th - Today, let’s talk movies. What was the most recent movie you watched? Have you been to the theater recently? What movie are you looking forward to? What is your favorite movie of all time?

The Gate: Dawn of the Baha'i Faith Official Trailer

The last movie I went to see was at the Baha'i Center when the Las Vegas Spiritual Assembly show The Gate. The actors chosen to portray Tahirih and the other Letters of the Living did an excellent job. The only person not portrayed visually in the movie was The Bab himself. That is because it is forbidden to show a Manifestation or Prophet of God in any movie or film. Not showing an actor playing the Bab didn't take away from the movie because it presence was suggested through the way the scenes were filmed.

DAY 2431: "The pen is the tongue of the mind" Miguel de Cervantes Saaverda What do you think? Do you use something besides a pen to compose your writing?

Contemplating the Pen I Writ With

There are no maps on this journey,
and only one vehicle.
Mind is the pen I write with,
my fingers the ink of my muse.

I float on star currents
embraced by the interstellar medium,
cold hydrogen echoes my intonations,
echoes the song of my soul,
and echoes the muse of faith.

T here is no map for this journey,
my soul's compass points toward eternity:
free of the chains of matter
my mind soars above alien landscapes.

Writing the words
my mind creates atoms and molecules
enzymes and proteins,
and silence an chaos.

Death is the next line,
and life after death the next stanza;
there is only noise and silence,
today is yesterday and tomorrow,
the missing link in the evolution of my muse.

Day 2035: “Writing is a struggle against silence.” Carlos Fuentes What do you think?

Silence

Silence is necessary for meditation, prayer, and contemplation before writing. The mind is seldom silent, unless a person focus on something to distract the thoughts that flow through the mind. Writing focuses the noisy mind. Meditation and prayer focus the noisy mind. Writing, is not so much "a struggle against silence", as it is a struggle against the death of an idea.

PROMPT: July 14th - In the age of the internet, most everything we say and do online will be preserved forever. Even though our opinions, beliefs, and actions change over time, should we still be held accountable for our words, even words spoken or written years ago?

Whether or not we should or can be held accountable for words we spoke five, ten, fifteen, or twenty years ago sounds like a case that will eventually end up before the Supreme Court. The wisdom of a 72 year old tells me that youth and/or immaturity opens its mouth before putting its brain in gear. As we mature our interactions with humanity and our ability to question our own opinions changes our opinions, our words, and our actions. We begin to regret some of the things we said and did when we were younger and less mature.

I suspect that the best way to deal with a situation where yesterday's words are regurgitated is to take responsibility for our foolishness, and point out the actions that show we have changed our opinions. I can't think of any other way to handle a situation similar to this. Some will hold what we said years ago against us, no matter what we say or do today. Just as some people will think that because we look or dress like them we hold the same opinions as they do. The best thing to do is just show by actions that we have change our opinions.

PROMPT: July 13th - Have fun answering these “Would you Rather?” questions in your blog today! You can choose to answer as few or as many as you like *Smile*
Would you rather live a boring, long life or an exciting, short life?
Would you rather be able to fly or teleport?
Would you rather be able to only time travel to the past or only time travel to the future?
Would you rather lose your hearing or your sight?
Would you rather live the rest of your life as a cat or a dog?

I Would Rather

I would rather be a fish than a snail,
I would rather be a mermaid than a whale,
I would rather swim in the oceans of Earth,
Than walk the dry land of my birth.

I would rather go to Mars,
Or take a spaceship to the stars,
Than deal with Earth's continues wars

To live a long and boring life,
One must avoid all stress and strife,
And learn to teleport themselves or fly
Away into the clear blue or cloudy sky.

I travel into the future everyday,
As I move forward from yesterday into today.
Each second moves me forward into tomorrow,
Carrying with it my happiness and sorrow.

Age is a good equalizer,
It gives you excuses to be wiser,
As both sight and hearing slip away,
You can pretend you didn't hear what your enemies say.

Would I rather be a cat or a dog?
I think I'd rater be a dat or a cog,
A cross between a cat and a dog.

PROMPT: July 12th - Make an A-Z list on a topic of your choosing. Stretch your creativity! *Bigsmile* After you finish your list, write a short narrative describing why you chose the list you did and how it relates to you.

Ali-Muhammad, on May 23, 1844, announced that He had received a new revelation from God. He took the title "Bab", which means "Gate". because he was also the forerunner of someone who would bring a much greater Revelation from God.11

Bábu’l-Báb, "Gate of the Gate, was the title The Bab gave to Mullá Husayn Bushrú’í the first person to declare his belief in The Bab.12

Commentary on the Surih of Joseph was the first of the scripture revealed by the Bab. It was revealed on the night The Bab declared his mission to Mullá Husayn Bushrú’í.

Dawn of a new day! The Bab is an independent Manifestations of God and the Dawn of the day of unity. His appearance indicated the maturity of humanity and the coming of God's kingdom on Earth.

Each one of the divine Manifestations or Prophets, has declared the existence of God, while representing the God Head to humanity. The Bab is the bridge between the Prophetic Cycle, which ended with Muhammad, and the cycle of fulfillment, which begin with the appearance of the Bab and Baha'u'llah.

Fort Tabarsi was constructed at the Shrine of Shaykh Tabarsi by Mulla Husayn and other Babi's who were being attacked by the Army of `Abdu'lláh Khán, who was intent on executing every Babi he encountered. When 'Abdu'lláh Khán'a troops attacked, the Babi's defended themselves without returning the attack to Khan's troops.

Guidance, the Bab tells us, is through "love and compassion".13

Husayn Ali, Baha'u'llah (the Glory of God), was born in Tehran on November 12, 1817.14 Baha'u'llah, the one who the Bab referred to as "Him Whom God Will Make Manifest"15 declared his mission in 1863 in a garden outside of Baghdad.

I contemplate the titles of the Bab the Primal Point, the Mystic Fane, and other given Him by Baha'u'llah and 'Abdu'l-Baha16. I wonder how I can include them in poems dedicated to His Holiness the Bab.

July 9, 1850, at noon in the town square of Tabriz, Persia (Iran) The Bab, along with Anis, a young follower who requested to be at the Bab's side, was executed by a regiment of 750 rifles.17

Khadijih Begum was the wife of The Bab. They were married on August 25, 1842, and a year later she gave birth to a son, who lived a few months.18

Letters of the Living are the first eighteen believers in The Bab.

Maku and Chiriq the mountain fortresses in which the Bab was imprisoned before his trial and execution.

Nabil's Narrative: The Dawn Breakers is the history of the Babi and early years of the Baha'i Faith. It was written by Nabíl-i-Zarandí aka Nabíl-i-A’ẓam, who is also known as Mullá Muḥammad-i-Zarandí.19

October 20, 1819: I meditate on the Birth of the Bab. I wonder if His mother, Fátimih, knew that He would sacrifice Himself for the unity of humanity.

Persian Bayan was revealed by the Holy Spirit to the Bab in 1847-1848 when He was imprisoned in Maku. It is the Bab's book of laws to the Babi community.

Quddús20, one of the Letters of the Living, was the title given to Mullá Muhammad-‘Alí Bárfurúshí, who accompanied The Bab on His pilgrimage to Mecca.21

Revelation is progressive. Each religion has been revealed through a prophet-manifestation who reflects to humanity the attributes of the Almighty and Unknowable Creator. The Bab was a lamp light by the Hand of God to guide humanity into a new age of unity.

Son of the Bab, Ahmad Shirazi. After his death he was buried under a cypress tree.22

Táhirih, the Pure One, was the only woman among the Letters of the Living. This title was given to her at the Conference in Badasht, which marked the demarcation of the Babi faith from that of Islam. At this conference, Tahirih removed her veil and walked across the compound, shocking most of the men there.23

Umm’ul-Ká’inát, is the title given to Ásíyih Khánum Baha'u'llah's wife. She is the mother of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, Bahá’iyyih Khánum, and Mirzá Mehdi, as well as two children who died very young. Another title of Asiyih Khanum was Mother of Consolation.24

Vahid Akbar, also known as Siyyid Yahya-i-Darabi, was appointed by Muhammad Shah to determine the truth of the Bab's claim. As a results of several meeting with the Bab, Vahid became a Babi.25

Xenophilia, "an attraction to foreign peoples, cultures, or customs."26 In its inmost essence, Xenophilia demonstrates the oneness of humanity.

Youth, young men and women full of zeal, proclaimed the message of the Bab and shed their blood for the propagation of His faith.

Zanjan is a province in Iran. It was also the home of Hujjat-i-Zanjáni, whose given name was Mullá Muhammad-`Alí. He was one of the martyrs at Fort of ‘Alí-Mardán Khán, Zanján, Iran on January 8, 1851.27

I am in the process of writing 200 poems dedicated the the Bicentenary of the Birth of the Bab. This will give me something to work on to finish the poem I need to write. While this isn't exactly a poem, I'm counting it ad number 32 and will copy it into "Bicentenary Poems and Prose to go with the other poems.

PROMPT: July 11th - Do you have any tattoos or want one in the future? If you had to have a piece of art permanently on your body, what would you want it to say about you?

I don't have a tattoo. I know people with tattoos and most of the tattoos are nice looking pieces of art. I've never wanted a tattoo, until this week. Right now, I want to run away from my life, and get a dragon, unicorn, or butterfly tattoo. I want to run away and never look back, which isn't going to happen. The tattoos, if I could afford one would probably happen. And again it might not, I'm a very conservative person and spending money for body art might not be something I would do when I'm not pissed or depressed.

At this point, I'm not sure whether I'm pissed, depressed, or a little bit of both. I'll figure that out sometime today or tomorrow. This afternoon I've got a doctor's appointment, with one of my specialist. Since the home test he wants me to take hasn't arrived yet, it means that I'll probably have another appointment with him or his assistant when it comes, I take it, and send it back to the lab. This means I won't be running away until next month. I might wait and decide if I'm running away after I get a pair of new shoes or find the shoes I packed away when I moved and now can't find. Perhaps I'll wait to run away until I have to move again before deciding to run away. Telling myself I'm running away instead of moving sounds like much more fun.
