Image for BCOF members to put in their blogs "Prompt: Night Noises"

I remember when I was a child we burned firewood. We would always stoke the stove full of wood before bed and get up in the morning to find it out. Of course a cooling stove makes all sorts of "night noises" so my imagination would run wild. I often thought I was being invaded. Of course the night only seemed to amplify the sound so that a little "ping" became a big "bang" and on it went. Quite frightening at first.

Image for BCOF members to put in their blogs Prompt: "Share a childhood memory that makes you smile."

I remember living in a house in rural West Virginia. It must have been summer or fall because my family and I were outside and it was a very pleasant evening. My dad loaded me into his vehicle and we made the trek across an old country road to a store way out in the boonies where he bought ice cream and these big plastic tools for me to play with. I have bought some of those same plastic tools for my son before and they are really inexpensive. At the time they were worth more than gold to me and so is the memory.

I share my real self online but I still hide behind a pen name. My given name is Marvin Duane Schrebe. My alias is Jamison Christian Breva or just :Chris Breva". I figure Chris is easier to remember so I go by it.

Image for BCOF members to put in their blogs Prompt: "What changes have you made in your life this month?"

I haven't made any major changes. I did change my schedule a little bit to accommodate for church. We are holdong revival this week at church and I have been attending it. The other change I've made is wearing my uniform more. My uniform reminds me of my committment to Christ. It's a good visual.

Even though it is October and the time of the year when the veil between life and death is believed to be partially lifted, I do not believe their is any such thing as a ghost. I accept that perhaps we leave psychic energy behind, but that is as far as I am willing to go. I know man is wicked and believes in a lot of nonsense. I believe Christ rose from the dead so if He was a ghost then I believe. I entreat others to do the same. Hell is flat out for real. The shoes on your feet will split it wide open without Christ. Do not delude yourself! Now I must get ready for class!

Image for BCOF members to put in their blogs Prompt:"October 14 is Indigenous Peoples Day . Let this day inspire your blog entry."

We have been studying this in my history class at Marshall. The US government denies that the USA is an empire. Yet through out our history we have annexed other countries and taken over their territory. The indigenous people of the USA, the Native American tribes, were driven off their property as we expanded westward. Yet we are not an imperialist state? I believe history clearly states that the USA is an empire!

Image for BCOF members to put in their blogs "Prompt: October 12 is Moment of Frustration Day. What has been your biggest frustration this year? What did you do about it?"

Probably my biggest frustration this year has been losing my income for two months because of red tape. I think it sucks that a person on disability is not allowed to earn an income. I understand but I still think it sucks. I mean I was only trying to better myself and be a contributing member of society. I love serving and this gave me an opportunity to serve. The next time I take a position it will either be high paying or volunteer. I can't afford to lose my income just because I am trying to better myself and become a productive member of society.

I wish writing was a more productive and lucrative proposition. My poetry of late has been winning a lot of prizes. I changed my writing style. I once used a lot of descriptive words. I don't anymore. I use only nouns, verbs, pronouns, conjunctions, and some prepositions in my poetry, leaving out the adjectives and adverbs. It seems to work!

Image for BCOF members to put in their blogs Prompt: "Do you find it difficult to ask for help?"

Not at all. I'm a recovered addict. I know what results if I continue to bungle things on my own. I don't want to live that way and the solution is to ask for help. I ask for help on a daily basis. Anybody involved in a major adventure or project had better know how to ask for help. I'm currently writing a five page paper on Spanish influenza, the pandemic that killed one third of the worlds population in 1918-19. You'd better believe I am asking for help!

Image #1997652 over display limit. -?- Prompt: "What are your pet peeves?"

My pet peeve is people blindly following the religion of their parents. "It was good enough for mom and dad,it's good enough for me."
That attitude doesn't work for me! Why is your religion good enough? Have you researched it's roots? Have you researched your religion at all? I am a Christian because history proves to me that Jesus Christ rose from the dead, not because my parents were Christian! I don't care what my parents believed. I stand on my own beliefs. It really irritates me when I ask somebody why they believe and they tell me they were raised that way. That attitude makes them like sheep. God wants us to know why we believe!

Image #1997652 over display limit. -?- Prompt: "What are your favorite blogs or podcasts this month? Share a short list and help us all discover some new friends."

To be honest I don't have a whole lot of time to read blogs or watch pod casts. I do what pod casts for class so I guess "Crash course in history."
