For my blog

Take UP Your Cross

Prompt:
Isaiah 53:5
5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

1 Peter 2:24
Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

What do you think about these two verses? Do you think this is pertaining to spiritual or physical healing or both?

Answer:
Primarily, I believe this is speaking of spiritual healing. I think it can pertain to physical healing in the sense that if a spiritual issue was causing a physical ailment. This is mostly talking about forgiveness of sins and the condition of the soul in my opinion.

Scripture writing - Job 16:19-21

Scripture:
19 Also now, behold, my witness is in heaven, and my record is on high.
20 My friends scorn me: but mine eye poureth out tears unto God.
21 O that one might plead for a man with God, as a man pleadeth for his neighbour!
22 When a few years are come, then I shall go the way whence I shall not

Observations:
Basically, I believe here that one is turning to God when their friends turn against them.

Application:
Trust in God even if the whole world turns against you.

Prayer:
Dear God,
Thank you for always being someone I can rely on. You are my hope and stay. Keep me close to you.
In Jesus's name,
Amen

Prompt: “We accept the love we think we deserve.”
From The Perks of Being A Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
Your thoughts on the subject?

In some ways I think it is true. It's hard to receive love if you don't think you deserve it. On the other hand, a Christian has to learn to accept love they don't deserve. God loves us in ways we don't deserve it. Sometimes we have to accept love we don't think we deserve from a significant other so a wedge is not driven into the relationship. Of course we sometimes have to give undeserved love also.

Day 2125: June 7, 2021

Prompt: "Deep within us — no matter who we are — there lives a feeling of wanting to be lovable, of wanting to be the kind of person that others like to be with. And the greatest thing we can do is to let people know that they are loved and capable of loving." – Fred Rogers
Use this quote to inspire your blog entry.

This is why I think we need Jesus. We were created by God to need love so we could receive it from him and give it to him and others. Jesus died to repair the broken relationship between us and God. If you get to know him, you will find God is love.

Scripture writing - Job 2:11-13

Scripture:
11 Now when Job's three friends heard of all this evil that was come upon him, they came every one from his own place; Eliphaz the Temanite, and Bildad the Shuhite, and Zophar the Naamathite: for they had made an appointment together to come to mourn with him and to comfort him.
12 And when they lifted up their eyes afar off, and knew him not, they lifted up their voice, and wept; and they rent every one his mantle, and sprinkled dust upon their heads toward heaven.
13 So they sat down with him upon the ground seven days and seven nights, and none spake a word unto him: for they saw that his grief was very great.

Observations:
Verse 11- Jobs friends made an appointment to come together with him.
Verse 12- when they first saw him, they didn't recognize him. He must have looked very rough.
Verse 13- they just sat with him quietly for 7 days and nights because he was very grief-stricken.

Application:
True friends stick with you even in tough times.

Prayer:
Dear heavenly Father,
Thank you for giving me some good friends too. Help me be that type of friend in return.
In Jesus’s name,
Amen

For my blog

Take UP Your Cross

Prompt:
3 John 1:2
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

Do you believe our physical health could be a picture of our soul’s health? Why or why not? What are your thoughts about this verse?

Answer:
In some ways, I think our physical health can be a picture of our spiritual health, but we must be careful not to judge the book by its cover so to speak. Not every illness is a result of someone's personal or family sin. Sometimes it is a result of needed spiritual growth given by God or just so God's glory can be shown either by healing or other means.

Again, I think this is a picture of God placing our soul’s health above the importance of our physical health. God cares about our physical health. Don't get me wrong. However, I believe that He may break down the body to save the soul if necessary too.

I also think that we need to see the importance of a soul as well. When we witness or give to others to help them, we should keep this in mind. We should care about more than the physical body we see, but also care deeply for the soul inside the body we see.

Scripture writing - Ephesians 4:29-32

Scripture:
29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

Observations:
Verse 29- Only let good things proceed from your mouth so other can be built up by your words and not torn down.
Verse 30- Don’t grieve the Holy Spirit. He is the one that seals our claim to Salvation through the blood of Jesus.
Verse 31- Don’t hold onto bitterness, anger, or any malice (evil desires). Don't speak evil towards or about others.
Verse 32- Be kind and tender hearted. Be quick to forgive. Love each other with the love of Christ.

Application:
Build others up. Don't pull them down. This is especially true of our words. Be quick to forgive. Don't even think evil against others.

Prayer:
Dear God,
Help us to show your love to one another. Help us be quick to forgive. Help us to embrace the positive and release the negative in our lives and the lives of others.
In Jesus’s name,
Amen

Gratitude List

I have taken a little break from this because I needed it. I will pick it up again soon I think. I was getting a bit discouraged because I felt like I was being repetitive because I wasn't getting out much. When you do a lot of the same thing every day, it is hard to think of new things. It isn't that I am not grateful. However, when I began getting discouraged by the list instead of encouraged by it, it was time to take a break.

Macavity is helping me this evening with the prompt. He wants to know are you a cat person? A dog person? An animal person in general> Do you believe animals add joy to human life?

I am definitely more of a dog person. I love animals, but I do have animals I tend to favor more tan others. I do believe animals add joy to our lives when we are right with God and we treat them right. The Bible speaks of even the beasts being at peace with us when we are right with God. Then it also talks about the beasts turning against us when we are in rebellion against him.

It is kind of a sad poem about a lost love, and I think I heard a ton of regret etched in those words. I will try to remember to go back and review it later today. I have some other things I need to do right now.

Use these words in your post today in response to this question: Did I really see that? ornithopter which is a bird-like archaic flying machine, quern is a stone mill worked by hand, trochomancy is divination by studying wheel tracks.

I think it would be awesome to see an ornithopter in action. A quern would be interesting too. I enjoy learning about history and science. Trochomancy, on the other hand, I would have to pass on that. It is my belief that any form of divination, while the power is very real, is powered by evil spirits. I do believe in a spiritual world and that angels and demons exist. In fact, I have seen and at least somewhat experienced both. Thankfully, I have had more experiences with angels than with demons. I believe that when you try to harness the power of those demons, they will eventually harness you. I say beware and be careful to anyone practicing divination. Also, if you do find yourself harnessed by those demons, I know of one name to call. His name is Jesus. If you call to him in repentance and a sincere heart, he is able to deliver you out of the demon’s snare.

For my blog

Take UP Your Cross

Prompt:
Isaiah 38:16-17
16 O Lord, by these things men live, and in all these things is the life of my spirit: so wilt thou recover me, and make me to live.
17 Behold, for peace I had great bitterness: but thou hast in love to my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption: for thou hast cast all my sins behind thy back.

What does this say to you?

Answer:
I think this Scripture is speaking of spiritual healing. God loves our soul so he has delivered us from corruption and completely forgiven our sins. When we repent and give our lives to God, then he will recover our lives and health of our soul.

Scripture writing - Ephesians 4:25-28

Scripture:
25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.
26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:
27 Neither give place to the devil.
28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.

Observations:
Verse 25- Just don't lie. Always tell us the truth.
Verse 26- It is ok to feel angry, but don't hang onto it and don't let it cause you to sin.
Verse 27- Don’t give the Devil any opportunity to tempt you or lead you astray.
Verse 28- Don’t steal from anyone. Make honest money by working for it, and give to those that need it.

Application:
Do not lie. Do not react out of anger or hold onto anger. Do not steal, but rather give to those in need.

Prayer:
Dear God,
Help me to let go of anger. Help me not to react out of anger, but in the love of Jesus even when I am angry. Give me wisdom to be able to help others when it is truly needed.
In Christ’s name,
Amen

A family member has married outside of their race, religion, social class or broke some taboo. How did different folks react at first. After a year, or 5.

Thank you Kara for the great suggestions.

This depends on the family. I have heard of some being completely disowned. Others are still accepted as part of the family but shunned at certain events and gatherings.

Personally, I am a mold breaker. Lol I am one to push the envelope a bit and form my own opinions. As a result, it did put some strain on certain family relationships such as with my parents. I have been viewed as a rebel. Maybe I am to some extent. I don't want to be anyone’s puppet on a string. I have had to stand up against abuse, and there are certain things I just can not and will not tolerate.

Neva asked a question on Tuesday and Kara responded with some excellent examples of prompts. I reached out to Kara but didn't get a response about using her suggestions. I hope she's okay with me going ahead. I'm heading to bed, my recent surgery is still quite painful.

Odd couple... can you live or travel with someone who is messy or not punctual or with someone who's a clean freak or nagging. How do you cope. How do you sort out what's important and what to let go.

In other words, how do you choose your battles? Lol sometimes, you just have to ask yourself, who or what is this harming? If the answer is nothing or no one. It just bugs you. Then let it go. If it causes harm or disharmony, then you should say something. If you have someone that isn’t punctual, tell them the time a few minutes ahead so the likelihood of them being late reduces. For example, if dinner is at 6 p.m., tell them they have to be there by 5:45, something like that. Or give them a reminder call or text. It depends on the person or situation. The clean freak will be easier to get along with if you just clean as you go. The nagger is the one I have trouble with. I am stubborn and strong-willed. The more a nagger nags, the less likely they are going to get what they want from me, and the more likely they will get the not-so-nice me to come out and play. It is likely we could clash.

For my blog

Take UP Your Cross

Prompt:
Proverbs 17:22
A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.

What do you think Solomon means by this?

Answer:
Isaiah 61:3 says to put on the garments of praise for the spirit of heaviness. (This is something I need to work on, I might add.) Praising God changes our focus from our current circumstances to the greatness of God's power and his goodness and nature. It changes our focus from ourselves onto him. Giving God praise is healing in itself. It lifts our mood and strengthens our faith.

If our spirit is broken, we are broken. Depression causes physical ailments. It is hard to pull yourself out of this mindset. It can effect your whole being. For those of us who have depressive disorders, this is all too real. This is a reason I have this issue. I have been diagnosed with one. I am not saying I should stop taking antidepressants. However, when I am feeling depressed and in my dark moods, I can keep these Scriptures in mind to help fight my illnesses.

Scripture writing - Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

Scripture:
9 Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour.
10 For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.
11 Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one be warm alone?
12 And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

Observations:
Verse 9- Verse 10 explains verse 9.
Verse 10- If one falls or lacks, then the second can help him up or pick up the slack.
Verse 11- When 2 people cuddle up, they can gain warmth from each other.
Verse 12- There is strength in numbers.

Application:
We can do more together than apart.

Prayer:
Dear God,
Help us learn to work together in unity to accomplish your will.
In Jesus's name I pray,
Amen

Prompt: "The best rooms in the house have something to say about the people who live in them." David Hicks Use this quote in your Blog entry today.

I think it is hard to live somewhere and not leave an impression of yourself. The rooms that show the personality or beliefs of the occupant are definitely more interesting.

On this day in 2011, Doctor Kevorkian Died
Controversial doctor, Jack Kevorkian, died at the age of eighty-three. Kevorkian was known as "Doctor Death" and had spent eight years in prison for aiding in assisted suicides of one hundred and thirty people.. Kevorkian advocated assisted suicide for terminally ill patients and his trial and conviction of murder for assisting a suicide sparked much debate on the subject.

How do you feel about assisted suicide? In favor or against? Why?

In some ways, I think we have more compassion for our animals than our fellow human beings. Think about it. If we see an animal suffering near death and in pain, we put it to sleep. But it is considered more humane to let a human suffer or it is murder. After seeing some of my loved ones die, in some cases, I think it would be better to help them pass more peacefully. I think the situation should have wisdom and discretion applied, but I have seen some pretty rough life-endings. This is a hard topic and a hard call. Until you are faced with this situation personally, it is hard to know what you would do in some circumstances.

Welcome...

PROMPTS FOR JUNE 2021: 62 Prompts ~ Yes a couple extra!

1. What is your biggest concern right now?
I don't know what has gotten into me lately, but I am having a very hard time staying motivated. I have gotten discouraged in some areas. I am trying to fight this. My health issues have certainly complicated things.

2. Do you think you are a positive or negative person?
I like to think I am a positive person. I try to focus on the positive anyway.

3. What are your best qualities?
Writing, my smile, kindness, Love for God

3. Could you be a better friend?
Maybe, I always try to do my best though.

4. Could you be a better partner/wife/husband/mother/father/daughter or Son?
I will put it this way. I am a human being. I make mistakes and fail a lot, all the time. I do the best I can, but I am sure there is always room for improvement.

6. Write about your top five personal strengths.
This is a good question. I hadn’t really thought about it. I guess my ability to smile through difficulty is a strength. Let me think. What else? 🤔 I am determined and strong-willed. I avoid confrontation, but will definitely stand up for what I believe in. My faith in God is probably my greatest strength. God is where my strength comes from. I am good at communication.

7. What things change your mood from positive to negative?
I would rather talk about what changes my mood from negative to positive. 😉 I guess that is for another question though. I am learning to hate sin and evil. When I see injustice done and perversion, it is hard for me to keep quiet about it. It boils my blood especially when I know it is hurting someone I know and care about.

8. Make a list of 10 affirmations that will lift your mood.
-I am making progress, a little every day.
-All of my needs are provided by the most high God because I belong to him.
-No one can be against me because my God is for me.
-All things work together for good.
-I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.
-The joy of the Lord is my strength. I will put on the garments of praise for the spirit of heaviness.
-My hope is in God. He is my everything.
-God’s strength is made perfect in my weakness.
-I am more than a conquerer because the Bible says so.
-Goodness and mercy follow me all the days of my life.

9. Do you have a morning routine? Can it be improved?
I sort of have a morning routine. It could definitely be improved. I have to take a thyroid pill, so I get it swallowed. I go to the restroom, and take the dog out. I give my roommate her medicine and help her set up her tablet and stuff. Then I come back into my room, set up my tablet, take electronics that have been charging overnight off of chargers. For 30 minutes to an hour, I usually check emails and notifications while trying to fully get awake. Then I fix breakfast for my roommate and I. We eat breakfast and have more medicine we have to take after that. So I get mine and her pills together so we can take them. After we take our pills, then it varies from there from day to day depending on what has to be done for that day.

10. How are you feeling today?
(June 18th) Today, like most days, I feel tired. At my leg muscles quit spasming and are not hurting like they were for the last couple of days. That was no fun.

11. What is something you want to achieve throughout this year?
I would like to sell more of my craft items, but I need to stop being so passive about it. I need to make more Facebook posts about them among other things.

12. Make plans for Spring.
I am just now getting ready for Summer 2021. Spring 2022 is to far ahead yet for me to make plans at the moment.

13. What are your goals for February?
This is a bit too far ahead for me. I plan to live one day at a time and hope for the best at this point in my life.

14. Write about your dream Valentine’s Day date, you can try some Valentine doodles too.
The next Valentine's Day is too far away right now. At this point, I don't know what that part of my future holds.

15. Have actionable steps for your big year goals.
I have never been one to be very good at this. Life is so unpredictable. This year I have struggling with health issues. It has been hard to make plans because of my health issues. My main thing I am doing right now is trying to figure out what is going on in my body and how to live with it. I hope that if I get a proper diagnosis, that some treatment can be received and I will feel better in the end. My goal this year has been to just try to get better.

16. Make a spring cleaning plan to declutter your life.
I work on this a little at a time all through the year. I have never been one to be into the spring cleaning thing.

17. Do you have all the important dates and birthdays in your journal?
No, I don't. I don't have that many to remember. Facebook reminds me of all the rest.

18. Make a plan for your dream garden.
I think it would have cucumbers and tomatoes. If I planted squash, I would have to wear gloves while touching the plant. It is strange, I can eat it with no issues. However, the leaves make my skin kind of blister. What else can I “dream” up? If I am going to dream, let's go big. I could have strawberries, blueberries, and grapes. I could have some potatoes. Why not add a sprinkler system to water the garden for me. Then we could have shade over a part of the garden for the more finicky plants that don't like as much sun. While we are at it, we will add some herbs. Oh, and we can not forget scallions and garlic. We can add some floral plants on the other end, especially roses because I love those. We will put a water fountain in the middle with some goldfish swimming in the water. Let's have a corner with a couple of large trees for shade with a bench in between to sit and take it all in. On second thought why not have an outdoor swing instead of the bench? That could be a peaceful place to retreat when life got too hectic.

19. What summer plans do you have?
I hope to go swimming at least once a week while I can in the apartments pool. I will limit my time in the sun so I don't burn. I hope to get some great nature pictures. Maybe I can go on a nature walk somewhere.

20. Write the perfect way to spend Easter.
Since it is a Sunday, the perfect way to spend Easter is in church.

21. How would you make a rainy day amazing?
Open the blinds and watch it rain. Try to accomplish as many in door tasks as I can.

22. What is a challenge you would like to overcome?
As stated above, I would like to overcome my health issues. As they say, I am much to young to feel this old.

23. Plan all the holidays you celebrate.
I don't honestly celebrate holidays too much anymore since my parents passed away. Right now, I try to just live one day at a time.

24. How are you progressing with your year goals?
I have had blood tests done, seen the doctor, and will have insurance July 1st. So I think that is good progress right now.

25. Name a fear you would like to overcome.
My fear of insects with stingers. I am allergic to insect bites. You let a bee land on me, and it is all I can do not to freak smooth out.

26. What are you grateful for in your life?
How can I not be grateful for anything? I am grateful for everything. Life is a gift from God.

27. What is your favorite spring/summer activity?
Going on walks to take photos of nature.

28. What 5 things are you grateful for this week?
Jesus Christ, the Bible, my prayer time, friends, and family

29. Name the one thing you are most grateful for in your life at this moment.
Jesus Christ

30. Write about 5 amazing childhood memories you are grateful for.
My backyard tree swing provided a lot of great memories. One was my dad's mother pushing me in the swing while singing Swing Low Sweet Chariot to me.
Another sweet memory with the same grandmother, is going out on the front porch of my parents house and watching the sun set with her.
There was my 11th birthday when my mom surprised me with a canopy bed that I had wanted.
One time when we went to the zoo, I had asked an elephant to dance for me and it did.
The day I came home from summer camp and realized my parents had gotten me a puppy was a pretty special day. I think the puppy and I wore each other out playing. Lol I named him Benjamin and we called him benji for short. He was a chow and German Shepherd mix. He was beautiful. He had the chow’s thick hair. It was a strawberry blond color. His face was the shape of the German Shepherd's.

31. Which people in your life are you most grateful for.
My roommate, my neighbor, LegendaryMask❤️ , a certain friend of my that I won’t mention for personal reasons, and my parents.

32. Write about something that made you smile today.
My dog makes me smile all the time.

33. When were you last surprised?
I honestly don't remember right off the top of my head when I was last surprised. Life is full of surprises if you just pay attention. I am always being surprised. I was surprised when my elderly neighbor fell in front of my door. I was surprised when her dog got out and came to my door without her. I was surprised when a male cat now suddenly has a kitten around. I was surprised when all I could see was a cat’s tail hanging from the grill of our vehicle. I was surprised to see an owl at 1 am in the tree by my window. I have had many surprises in life, some are good and others not so much.

34. What is the most exhilarating thing that has happened to you this year?
Getting approved for health insurance. If I can get life to actually cooperate with me, I would be most exillerated if I could ever get my driver's license as planned. It seems like something always happens to prevent it. Have I been cursed? What is going on here?

35. Name a challenge you have overcome and how it helped you to grow.
I think just understanding and accepting myself for who I am has been a challenge for me. I was the only daughter of a preacher. Both my parents had low self-esteem, and that was passed on to me. I think it is obvious how that helped me grow. 😊

36. How can you show gratitude more?
I don't know how I can show anymore gratitude. I always try to remember to say thank you. I always try to return kindness and give kindness even when it isn't deserved.

37. What are 3 things that have happened to you which were difficult but you are now grateful for the experience?

39. What is your favorite way to exercise?
Walking and swimming

40. Did you make healthy choices today?
I had rice cakes for breakfast with peanut butter.

41. Name one simple way you can take a step to be healthier.
I am doing it now. I am trying an elimination diet to see if there are any food allergies or intolerances causing some of my issues.

42. How can you make activity part of your normal routine?
By making plans to do it and then keeping those plans.

43. What is your favorite food?
Pasta

44. List your fitness and health goals.
Get on the right diet for me as soon as I figure out what that is.
As soon, as my insurance kicks in, get some tests done I have been putting off do to not having the money for them.

45. Are you feeling stressed?
Am I alive? Lol To be alive is to experience stress sometimes. I have a lot of that in my life. Sometimes I have more than others.

46. Keep a mood or habit tracker to help understand your mental health.
I may do something like this next month. It is a good idea. I don't as of right now.

47. Think about what triggers your stress, emotions, poor eating habits.
I rather think on the good stuff and keep it positive. Lol stress is a trigger, depression and anger.

48. What is a bad habit you would like to change? What actionable steps can you take to make it happen?
I am working on putting on the garments of praise for the spirit of heaviness. When I am feeling down, I am trying to get into the habit of giving God praise.

I could write the word survive 10 times. Lately, I have been taking one day at a time. Let me think. What are the top 10 things I like to accomplish?

Take UP Your Cross

Prompt:
James 5:13-16
13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.
14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

I feel the Lotd prompting me to focus on healing for a bit. Over the next few days this is what I intend to base the prompts on. What are your thoughts about healing? There are some doctrines that teach healing is a “sign” gift. It was used by the Holy Spirit to validate the disciples and apostles. They believe in praying for health and healing, but don't believe in praying for instant healing. Others believe in holding healing services and healing ministries. I have heard several different views on the subject. Let's discuss it and see what the Bible has to say about it. Also, what are your thoughts on this passage?

Answer:
My personal thoughts on the subject are why even bother asking God for healing if you don't believe in it? How many times did Jesus tell the people he healed that it was their faith that made them whole? I believe that it is possible for God to heal instantly, but sometimes he allows us to suffer certain things to grow us and teach us or to show his glory in us. What I struggle with is knowing if and when it is truly God's will to heal us. If I know God wants us to be whole and without blemish, why do I struggle with this? One reason is because I know that while man looks on the outward appearance, God looks on the heart. He isn't just interested in healing our physical bodies, but our soul and spirit too. The soul’s healing is more important than physical healing, so that is of utmost priority. The physical body is temporary. The soul is eternal.

Sometimes illness can be the physical result of sin. In this passage above it talks about confessing our faults to one another and praying for each other so we can be healed. We should definitely pray for one another. God may hear our prayers for others and heal them while at the same time forgiving their sins. God is full of mercy and forgiveness. This is his very nature.

Scripture writing - 1 Corinthians 10:23-24

Scripture:
23 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.
24 Let no man seek his own, but every man another's wealth.

Observations:
Verse 23- All things are lawful, but it doesn't always benefit yourself or other people. It could in fact be destructive.
Verse 24- we are to seek to help others in stead of always seeking our own gain.

Application:
Put others before yourself.

Prayer:
Dear God,
Help me to always remember to put you and others before myself. I must seek your glory and interests first, and in doing so, you will add everything else to me. Thank you for your precious promises.
In Jesus’s name,
Amen

Prompt: Is there a difference between joy and happiness?

I think joy is a level up from happiness. When I think of being happy, happiness, it is more of a contentment. Joy, or being joyful, is more of a stronger feeling. Joy is happiness, but it is a happiness on steroids. It is excitement, a celebration. Well, that's my opinion for what it is worth anyway.

Write about this poem in your Blog entry today.

I am realizing how much our sin truly does effect the next 3 or 4 generations. In my case, this is the type of relationship I had wanted with my parents. This is not the type of relationship I had with them. Quite recently, God revealed to me that some of the things I have suffered are a result of my parents’ and grandparents’ sins. For an example, my Dad’s dad was an alcoholic. This effected my dad mentally and emotionally. As a result, I also suffered abuse. It doesn't make the abusive actions right, but it allows me to see the bigger picture and be more understanding of the situation. This also allows me to confess the sins of the previous generations to God, and ask forgiveness. Part of true repentance is also accepting God's judgement and punishment. Believe it or not, this actually helps in the healing process.

Scripture writing - Colossians 3:12-14

Scripture:
12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.

Observations:
Verse 12-We are to be merciful, humble, kind, meek, and longsuffering.
Verse 13-We are also to forgive one another as Christ forgave us.
Verse 14-We are to love one another as Christ loves us.

Application:
We are to love one another as Christ loves us.

Prayer:
Dear God,
Help us to be mindful to love one another the way you love us. Help us to have the sacrificial love of Christ for one another. Help us to be quick to forgive.
In Jesus’s name,
Amen

Take UP Your Cross

Prompt:
Do you study the Bible? Do you know how to study the Bible? If you do, what is your favorite Bible study method? Why? What makes studying the Bible easier for you? What makes it harder? How many ways do you know of to study the Bible? What are they? How often do you do it? Do you think it is important to do it regularly?

Write about studying the Bible today. Above I have asked some questions about Bible study. I would love to hear your answers. Or tell me your own thoughts on the subject.

Answer:
Yes, I do. I read a minimum of 1 chapter per day. I read the study Bible notes on it and look up anything I don't understand or want to know more about. I like to use the SOAP method for scripture writing/journaling and study. Sometimes I like to use Biblegateway.com. You can listen to the Bible be read in different ways. I really like the dramatic reading option. This website has all kinds of study helps and you can read different versions of the Bible here. It is harder to study the Bible when you have fewer tools at your disposal. I think the more tools you have available, the easier and more in depth you can study. I know of a lot of different ways to study the Bible. You can even Google Bible Study methods to get more ideas.

My mom thought me how to study the Bible before we had all this technology available. We had a Bible Concordance, a dictionary, and a couple of commentaries. These are the tools she thought me to use. She is actually the one who thought me to write out a devotion.

My mother dappled in writing a little but never pursued it. I have poems she had written while she was alive and some stories and devotions. I have dreamed of being a writer since I was a child but never fully pursued it until now. I enjoy writing. I enjoy watching people react to my talent. I enjoy expressing myself in this way.

Prompt: Which kinds of situations make you feel you’re in control versus which kinds make you lose control?

Situations that make me angry, especially when I see people doing injustices and getting away with them, make me feel out of control.

Sounds like someone needs to get out of the house more often. The Bible says the way to have friends is to show yourself friendly. Go on a walk and say Hi to the neighbors. Talk to the cashiers at the grocery stores. Go to church. You will eventually make some friends, but you have to put forth the effort. You might be surprised how people will respond to you when you just show them a little genuine interest, love, and human compassion.

Use this quote to inspire your blog entry.

I think what he means by this is that it is hard to have peace without justice.
