Here are words I like to write All day long 'til it is night. Words go up and words go down When complete approve the sound. If you complete my little rhyme, Things will come your way in time. |
Saturday March 9, 2024 4:00 pm Use these words in your entry today: literature, reason, coma, half, go, curl, and determine. For whatever reason, when I am given a prompt to use specific words in my blog entry, I make up a very short story with no planning and little editing. I must have been in a coma when the training on how to write from prompts was taught. All I had to do was curl my hair, go to class, and learn the reason for the word prompt type. If I checked even half of the literature available on how to respond to word prompts, I would determine that the way I just used the prompt is also okay. Whew! What would prevent one from writing a piece, and then selecting words that had already been included as words in the prompt? Would that be cheating or creative? |
Thursday March 7, 2024 7:50 pm I wrote yesterday's entry after the deadline so it shows posted today. It is before midnight so I am using this as a note to myself that the Newsfeed can be a source of good stuff. Many, like me, pulled up a site where we could answer questions and it would tell us what is our style. I am an innovator. I think up cool stuff and then work to execute the ideas. That is hard to do consistently. My point is many took the quiz and shared their results. It was like being together in a group, sharing and getting to know each other better. It was fun...just like the Question of the Day can be. It can be too thought-provoking for my half-asleep brain in the morning. I don't go there every day as I used to. , Honestly, you have to pick and choose. I have been asked to do the Wonderland and Game of Thrones activities along with others. My thing is doing reviews. Being distracted with activities in February had me doing a few reviews. I like to do them because I feel like I make a positive difference with the writers I review. I get feedback as well. As a Quill finalist I want to set a good example. |
Wednesday March 6, 2024 5:00 pm Happy birthday dogpack:saving 4 premium: DWG Prompt: "A weed is but an unloved flower." Write about this in your Blog Entry today. I love dandelions. I used to make chains with them. They are weeds but are nice bright yellow flowers. Wildflowers are weeds. A blanket of wildflowers is one of the prettiest sites. There are annoyingly ugly green weeds. I had some take over my backyard once. They had sharp parts and were attached firmly to the ground. I pulled every one of those by hand. It took me about a week. They grew back after the next rainstorm. I hated those weeds. |
Blogging Circle of Friends Prompt 2/28/24 Prompt: “Even though February was the shortest month of the year, sometimes it seemed like the longest.” I am not of the opinion that February ever seeming like the longest month. January, for me, drags on as a let down from Holiday filled December. I consider February to be short and, if anything, shorter than the short month. My grandmother's birthday was on February 29th. I don't remember when or if we celebrated. I assume we did. A long while back, I read an article about parents who have children on the 29th. They have been known to have the legal documentation changed to the 28th or hold up the delivery until after midnight with whatever it is that can do that. I am trying really hard to remember a time when February seemed to last the longest and can not think of a single time. It was a good prompt. |
Monday February 26. 2024 8:10 am BLOGGING CIRCLE OF FRIENDS PROMPT Day 4025: February 26, 2024 Prompt: “It starts with this: put your desk in the corner, and every time you sit down there to write, remind yourself why it isn't in the middle of the room. Life isn't a support system for art. It's the other way around.” Stephen King, On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft Where is your desk located? If you don't have a desk, where do you write? Does the location of your desk encourage or discourage your creativity? Anything to do with Stephen King, I am in. I read "The Stand" before it became a classic. My favorite was that one until "Misery" where once you read the book, the movie is practically scene for scene exactly like the book. I loaned my copy to my brother-in-law. Probably a year later we were at his house. I asked him about my book. He said he had his own copy and never borrowed mine. Neither a borrower or lender be. Oh, this was not the point of the prompt. Honestly, the point flew right over my head. |
My blog entry just disappeared. I am done trying and will try for tomorrow. or the next day, or the day after that. I should write an emotional poem about hitting an errant key and wiping out what I have worked hard at. I know I should put it in Notepad or Word or somewhere as Dave Ryan gently reminded me the last time this happened. I can become impatient when I have a list as long as Santa's to get through. There are always tasks left over. When I worked as a manager in customer service, my long-time director was adamant about doing what you could without staying after work to keep plugging away at things you think have to get completed. It helped be better at time management. I am still mulling over how I want to make a special page with my favorite MBs displayed. Not that I don't appreciate all the new ones Writing.com support is providing but there are some exclusive ones I have never seen. They please me. I would like to have them in one place. I believe I visited Princess Megan Rose GOT Fox to see how hers are displayed. I will take some time tomorrow to visit the place where the yellow case recipients hang out. I was happy to see several people I have grown close to in the Class of 2024. I reconstructed this blog entry after all because I put out an invitation for visitors. It is not as brief now as it was. If you read through to here, let me know so I can acknowledge you. tracker |
