Times have changed. Instead of single screen movie halls now we have in a single complex here a host of theatres exist, each showing a different movie, where the eatables and soft drinks cost a huge sum of money. It is very hard to come by any theatre of vintage these days. A nostalgic poem about old theatres and old movies which were enchanting.

Yes. Truly said. In addition to grit, determination and the desire to win, one must have patience. Doing things in a hurry will not lead to the desired result. Further one must keep in mind that it is not always possible to win, but participate in the event wholeheartedly and make sincere efforts to attain the goal.

The poem is one filled with the love and affection for the grandmother who is loved so dearly by the grandson. The poem speaks of the faith of the grandson in the grandmother and the abundant love he has for her. Quite touching. A fine tribute to the grandmother.

The poem clearly informs us that when the call comes, no one can demur or plead to be let off. When death is certain, there is no point in worrying about when it will come or wherefrom. Since we cannot decide the length of our lives, let us be prepared to 'go' when the Lord beckons us.

The poem brings to light what the world has come to. Even with the advancement of science and technology and the knowledge that understanding and co-operation between nations and people are the most needed, we don't find peace. Sane people's advice seems to have fallen on deaf ears.

Well said. Life needs one to share one's joys and sorrows, share the burden that we have to carry through our life and be a support at all times. This very idea comes out very well in the poem. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this topic.

The poem brings out the animal-lover in the writer. The amount of effort he has taken to shelter the millipede shows his love for creatures created by God.

The scenes of sunrise is adored by most, particularly the early-risers, early morning walkers and those who seek the beauty of sunrise. The poem talks about witnessing one such beautify sunrise which has found a permanent place in his heart.

A very nice place for the children to be. What more is needed to make them happy. It will be Utopia for them.
The poem is beautifully built up with find sounding words that will cheer the children . A very good attempt at fulfilling the needs of children.

Most people often react instantly to what is said without waiting for a second to think whether there is justification in reacting so fast with words that hurt the feelings of others. Words once spoken cannot be taken back and it is therefore of paramount importance that we speak only after thoroughly understanding what is said. A minute's calm thinking may eliminate the thought of reacting acrimoniously. The last para of the poem sums this up quite nicely.

The poem, pithy and in just three stanzas, conveys the idea of impatience, urgency and anxiety of those in the class waiting to be free and off from the confines of the classroom. Shows the typical tendency of students and their minute by minute experience in interesting detail.

It is very true. Social sites like Facebook, Twitter or Instagram have of late been used in a way it was not intended to by the creators of these sites. Bullying, as it is rightly pointed out in this article, has become quite common. Unless people exercise caution and prudence in communicating/sharing thoughts and ideas, these sites will become veritable hell to those who are injured by the observations and comments of the bullies.

It is not possible to suppress the ideas and thoughts bursting to come out from the heart and mind of a person. It overpowers his doubts and emerges as a wonderful article, poem, story or an essay. I do not consider it a curse. In fact, it may haunt a writer if he is reluctant to do justice to his urge of writing and possibly it may cause a little discomfort, but it cannot be called a curse. Of course it is my personal opinion which may or may not find favour with the writer of this article.

A wonderful article everyone who wants to write must read and follow the advice given therein. The most vital part about writing is so beautifully explained by the author in the following few lines, I extract it below. It is admirably written.

"Do you have the passion to write? Can you communicate effectively? Can you organize your thoughts and emotions by way of writing? Can you describe events through writing? Can you entertain and educate people through your writing? Finally, do you have the power of consistency?"

You have very rightly said that age is not the criterion for writing to share thoughts and ideas. To be personal, I am 80 years old now and I read everything worth reading despite my no-so-powerful eyesight.

Every paragraph of this article highlights one aspect of effective writing. The article has to be read in its entirety to realise the importance of writing and what efforts one should make to become a good writer.

Thanks for sharing the thoughts.

After reading what you have said, I feel like seeking some opinion about my own writing on WDC. I shall be glad if you could offer your views after reading them. I give below the title and references.

To be left alone by someone who infuses life and joy into one is certainly heartbreaking, whatever may be the cause for leaving. The grief and pain felt comes out in telling terms in the passage.

The gruesome realities of war that results in annihilation of people and countries come out in fine detail in this acrostic poem. Countless die as a result of war and those luckily survive live a life of misery, broken in spirit and disfigured in body. The generation that comes after this horrific war carry the effects of the war that they had not seen, but feel their effect in many. ways. The poem clearly brings out these facts of war.

No child ever forgets a loving mother. Children know how much they owe to their mothers for their existence. But for her care and love, no children can grow to become a responsible citizen and a caring human being. Mothers always deserve respect and love from their children.

It is heartrending when one loses a pet so well loved. A bond develops between the pet and his owner that is everlasting. It is difficult to express in words the mutual love and joy shared by the two. A great void is caused by the loss of the pet. I fully understand the feelings expressed in this poem.

A nice poem encouraging a lonely little kitten to have heart, for certainly he or she will be adopted and loneliness will end once for all. Not just that, there will be freedom and food aplenty to enjoy a new life. Thanks for the nice poem and until I come across your new poem, Meow.

In addition to bringing the Christmas atmosphere with the inevitable Santa's trips, the acrostic poem comes out very coherently, with each line merging and coalescing with the following lines in perfect sense. A very neat work of acrostic style on Christmas.

I do not think it is a good decision to leave WDC. You have been here for just about two months and you have now shown your prowess yet. Don't be dispirited so soon. Try harder and soon you will find recognition from the readers. I only hope what you have written is not TRUE. Keep writing your thoughts.

Review of Jackie's Birthday

The story of friendship between two girls of the same age ends with a nice twist - sixteen balloons floating into the sky to be grabbed by the other sixteen year old on the very day, but waiting in the sky to catch the balloons, as Jackie fondly hopes. A very nice story about friendship between two sweet girls.

It is not easy to forgive one who has hurt the other by word or deed. The insult rankles and the heart wants to retaliate in equal measure. But allow some time to pass, let your mind think of the whole episode and ponder over what should be done. It is likely that those who hurt may themselves feel sorry for their deeds and seek forgiveness and it is also possible that the person hurt may himself decide to forgive realising the fact that there is no point in harbouring hatred and suffer every minute. The last stanza clearly shows what is the right course.

Review of Ways of life

As the text below the title of the poem says, 'life is filled with problems and difficulties'. It is the absolute truth. People may have problems which may differ from that of the other person, but one has to face them. There is no escape from it. No human being is free from problems and difficulties, but life becomes tolerable when one learns to face them with equanimity and calmness.
