It is a nice narration of the dancing partners, how they become proficient at the end. It will certainly be a nice story-poem for children to enjoy. It is easy to put the blame on the kids to escape sarcasm and doubts about one's insanity. The excuse comes in very handy.

The poem clearly spells out the truth that we have a lot to return from the ancient writings and glyphs. What we have learnt from those that have been dug up and studied by scholars may not be complete. There may be more hidden, yet to be found out. A thought-provoking poem.

As you have justly observed, in writing, the major categories are just two - the fiction and the non-fiction. Normally a person chooses to write one or the other according to his proclivities and the grasp of the subject he is comfortable in. There are some so versatile that they can handle both these varieties with consummate ease. In addition one feels compelled to write to earn one's livelihood and some write for the love of it, to express themselves and feel happy to share their ideas and thoughts. Your article provides some ideas for a would-be writer.

A very smooth flowing poem where sense and style combines well. The start, the gradual progression of the theme and the final ending makes the flow easy and smooth in addition to the whole poem being very pleasing. The prompt blends well with the whole scheme of the poem.

No one seems to appreciate the value of the left hand until it fails to do its appointed function. It complements the functions of the right hand. Except for the one who is left-hand oriented, right hand is always depended upon. But forget not, left hand is as important as the right hand and this fact is realised only when it suffers a mishap and cannot function any longer. Your poem must be an eye-opener to those who do not give value the left hand.

The poem has taken me to my school days when I had the book titled "The Last Days of Pompeii' which gave full details of Mount Vesuvius erupting and consuming the whole city of Pompeii. It had additional interest by way characters in the story. My memory has been refreshed by this poem.

Loss of life causes much pain and sorrow, whether it be of a known one or an unknown one. It is all the more painful when a life is cut short by foul means or by avoidable accidents. As you have rightly said, life just does not happen by accident and the mystery is certainly beyond medical science. Even reading your poem about the death of a person makes me sad too. The poem surely goes much beyond the matter of death.

Truly said. Thoughts and ideas will certainly flow through the pen, which receives the thrust from the outpourings of the mind and heart, finally to take the shape of words and phrases of a poem. It is also true that this gift dies when Muses become paralyzed, as you have rightly observed.

Review of The Gate

The narration of the poem intensifies the mystery of the locked gate. It seems no one had entered or no one dared to, since the lock remains stubbornly locked. The poem has a certain aura of suspense and mystery and gives an indirect warning to the would-be daring one not to try to invade the privacy of the locked indoors. Very interesting.

No human being can escape the charms of feminine beauty. Women are born to charm and men are to be charmed. So it is nothing unusual to fall in love and give the charmer the heart and mind and plead with her to be loved for ever.

Review of Women's March

A most topical poem bringing out the need for giving women their rightful place and due respect under the sun. Their merit and capability cries for recognition, which have been overlooked so far, either deliberately or by ignorance. The time is now for changing this stance.

You have painted a wonderful picture of the setting sun, the water looking like a sheet glass and the coolness of water teasing your feet, et all. It is a scene out of a move watched in a theatre. It is impossible not to enjoy the evening in such a wonderful setting. You are a lucky one, I am sure.

You have correctly analysed the pros and cons of advancement in science and technology, particularly in the area of 'communication', and the latest gadgets that help communicate with others. I am very happy to note the warning containing the following lines of yours.

"However, like all good things in life too much can lead to negative consequences. With all this new technology comes great responsibility."

These are to be kept in view when indulging in the luxury of communicating with everyone.

Review of The Sand Castle

An excellent narrative of castle built on the shore of a beach and its imminent fall should the waves attack it in its relentless march towards the shore. The description of the sea, the atmosphere the sea waves, the sea air and suspense about the fall of the sandcastle - all these are pictures in words. Giving a lease of life is entrely at the will of Poseidon, the Lord of the Sea.

What the world needs today is PEACE. But it is eluding us. The lust for supremacy and unquestioned power is one of the reasons for peace not living among us. As long as people are not equal and as long as the right of everyone to live in dignity is not recognised, there will be wars and peace will elude us.

May I request you to have a look at the poem "Give Peace a Chance" written by me just a couple days ago on this site. It echoes your views and thoughts. I hope I am not imposing myself on you to read my work.

Review of To be alive

It is rightly pointed out that being alive is not just breathing, eating, sleeping and going about without any interest in what is around us, or those that people this earth. He or she is alive who uses all the god-given human faculties to enjoy, to reciprocate and touch other people's live with happiness. Very thoughtfully written piece.

The poem is a true reflection of love and affection for the grandbaby. How the memory of the child occupies the mind and how the writer wants the grandbaby to grow and enjoy life fills the poem. Each stanza pours out the feelings of love for the grandbaby. A truly lucky grandbaby to have one to love her so much.

Like human beings, birds are also born free in the creation. It is cruel to imprison them in cages and deprive them of their freedom which they are entitled to. The poem poignantly expresses the urge of the imprisoned bird to be let free to enjoy its life in a happy environment. Man gets this truth only when he is himself put behind the bars.

The word masters enriched the language and the readers became richer by receiving knowledge ganed through the wonderful writings of the monarchs.

Just as their writings have outlived their creators, the names of creators have outlived their flesh and bones.

You have rightly concluded by the apt words "Long live the monarchs' I am in total agreement with you.

The poem gives some useful tips for achieving better results through proper planning and rational thinking.
'Butterflies in the stomach" catches up with people who fail to organize their work in a systematic way.

It certainly needs to be given thought.

Review of CORRUPTION

Even when corrupt people know that they are corrupt, instead of trying to eradicate, they observe that corruption is a worldwide phonomena, not just with me or my group or my country.

Corruption has ruled the world for a long time, and it had not been possible to root it out by very honest people. That is why people seem to gloat when statistical surveys show that they are the least corrupt and others/other countries are much more.

A writer should be receptive to criticisms and praise. When one displays his art in public, it is naturally for anyone, knowledgeable or not-so-knowledgeable- to write something about the work, which may be to the liking to the writer or not. Very close friends in general give a favourable or at least non-committal opinion. It also happens that criticism causes in the criticized a new fervour to counter all those opinions and excel. As you have rightly observed, suggestions from a fellow writer might certainly help.

Yes. The characters that we create should be real or near-real. Surreal characters are only for fantasy writings. For normal day-to-day stuff, the characters should be like those we come across often in our daily life. That gives substance and strength to the character and the story or poem created on that basis.

It is really a practical approach to writing.

What encouraging thoughts to cheer up the fatsos (as they are also called), right at the beginning of the New Year. All the arguments carry weight and certainly cheer those blessed with a little bit extra flesh in the days and months to come. Why should the other person worry about the extra flesh of someone? He does not carry it to help others. Let the carping critics say what they like, but let the flabby ones enjoy life like everyone.

I feel it is better not to make New Year resolutions in a routine fashion and then forget them the next morn. On the other hand, it is better to face things as they turn up in the year and tackle them in the best manner possible and feel glad later.
