The whole history of Paraguay retold in acrostic style. Lot of effort seems to have gone into this poem since it conforms to the requirement of 'acrostic style' without losing its charm in sense.
The poem clearly makes one remember the saying "who knows about tomorrow". Tomorrows are always an illusion. The best thing is to grab the present and not letting to go.
A fine and interesting poem woven around the writer, One could get a clear picture of the person by reading the words of the poem. descriptions very well drawn.
A very good effort at describing oneself through words.
A very nice idea of feeling the loss of weight on the moon rather than on earth. But I think for many the very cost of reaching the moon will bring their weight down. All the same, a very novel idea.
Yes. As you have rightly observed, age catches up with everyone. And most aged experience all the ailments narrated in the poem quite well. The only thing that surprises me is that 49 years of life is taken to mean old age, of which I am not very sure of. Personally speaking, I am 78 years now and I accept when people call me old, but I cannot easily digest 49 years being reckoned 'old age'. So I would say, 'cheer up', don't call or believe yourself old and many of the symptoms will vanish>
An interesting poem about the waterfall, The words cascade in full flow reaching the reader's mind and spraying his face too in its roaring movement. The poem fully depicts the natural scene of a water fall seen through a curious and imaginative mind.
It is very thoughtful of you to have given Santa a break because he surely needed it. Always on the move to please all, particularly children, he certainly must have some time to feed himself that he may get energy to continue his rounds. An interesting poem about Santa.
It is nothing less than tragedy to lose a pet loved intensely. The void it causes is almost like the loss of human being most loved. I understand the feelings of the writer.
Who would want to wake up from such a dream that has transported one to heavenly bliss in the company of his beloved? The poem beautifully describes the scenes of the place and the feelings engendered in the heart.
Yes. I agree with you. Loneliness is a dreadful thing. As you have rightly observed, it has all the power to drive one insane. Except when one is contemplating, no one wants to be alone, and it is particularly so when one has grown old.
The poem is quite touching and gives an insight into the mind of one who is left in solitude.
The pain at not being recognised certainly hurts one very much and drives one into unforgiving feeling. The line quoted is quite striking and hence I extract it below to show my appreciation.
The only thing outlasting the pain is
your failed recognition Of what you
did and what you are—
Whether pleasant or otherwise, memories of the past will return to remind us that memories live as long as the mind is active. It will take us by surprise by visiting us when we are alone, in thoughtful moods, and in serene surroundings. It is quite natural that there has been a 'visitation' when silent winter has descended once again. An interesting poem.
Wonderful lines and wonderful thought, I extract your own words below to show how I relish the thought.
We each have ways we go to Him.
How can we chip away
at someone else’s firm beliefs
that get them through their day?
How dare we act as though we’re God
while living in our grand façade;
we break in half His mighty rod!
The One to Whom we pray
I wish people believe that everyone has a right of their own to live and worship Him in whom they believe.
It is often seen that a broken heart drives one to the extremes of thought and action. With imaginations running wild and controlling the mind already staggering with disappointment, the person feels the hopelessness of living and decides to take extreme steps. This poem brilliantly brings out this fact.
The poem clearly paints a picture of the forest with all its hidden terrors at night and the fear it creates in people left to find their way out of the forest.
A very touching story told in very affectionate terms at the loss of one's loving mother. The narrative traces every aspect of life spent together and how the changed circumstances hurt the sorrowing one. Nicely written.
The poem describes the feelings of one expecting to be loved, but only experiences indifference on the other hand. The hurt and disappointment is quite evident in the poem.
As you have rightly said, 'to love and be loved' is a gift from above. A new world is born for those who are blessed with this gift. This is a poem which eulogizes mutual love and the resultant unalloyed joy.
The poem succinctly says that except offering words of solace and comfort, and praying for Lord's blessings on the soul waiting to take off, man can do nothing.
Truly said. A time comes when we realized we had travelled on the wrong path hoping to gain happiness through acquisitions and riches. But with age, we come to realise that what we have got through struggle and pain is not the one to give us happiness. Life becomes happier when the truth takes root in our hearts. A nice, philosophical poem.
A fervent plea to the Lord to lead one who wants to be guided so that he may not go astray. His faith in and dependence on the Lord for a life of peace comes out quite well in these lines.
An interesting poem recapitulating what happened to the Native Americans when their land was grabbed by the new entrants and how the Natives lost their land. Thanks for rekindling the scenes of the olden times through this poem.
