| (1) A ticking clock scenario involving Nolan being arrested for the murder of his younger cousin, who was actually a younger version of himself. If he can’t get a hold of the transponder the time traveler gave him, then he might be sentenced to prison for a crime he didn’t commit. His new wife is in Hawaii with her family because Nolan had to work, so she is the only one who can return to their apartment in Downey and retrieve the transponder to contact Major Terry Grant. Glenn Tana is responsible for falsely accusing Nolan of murdering his cousin, he had been enemies with Nolan for a long time. The prosecutor and jury don’t believe Nolan’s time traveler story, so they are ready to find him guilty and sentence him to prison for 15 years to life. At the last minute, Major Terry Grant arrives with the younger version of Nolan, and proves that older Nolan had been telling the truth all along. Nolan is found not guilty, and younger Nolan is taken back to his own time and his memories of the court room are suppressed, so he only remembers everything after that day arrives and he is found not guilty. Major Terry Grant had been contacted by future Nolan after he was released from jail, and he explained his situation. This is how Terry Grant knew to go back and retrieve younger Nolan and bring him to the time when older Nolan was about to get sentenced. (2) Major Terry Grant is from the distant future, and he acts as a mentor to Nolan. (3) Chekhov’s Gun: The transponder given to Nolan in act 1 is very important to the climax of act 3. This is how he is able to contact Major Terry Grant. This is the only time the transponder is used. |
