Evening Respite
The sun has set, and blue light dims,
but warm the twinkle lights we burn.
How dark the leaves upon the limbs.
The hope of good causes heart to yearn.

To sit and listen to the sounds
of night as day bids all farewell
brings moments respite lately found,
and peace I can't begin to tell.

The new year wanders through our days.
The world is filled with feelings mixed.
The time to rest begins the gaze.
Some thoughts and blankness are betwixt.

The mind finds coffee such a friend.
It's warmth is gentle, sweetness light.
It's wordless moments calmly tend
the often silence of the night.
