Misunderstandings
I hate it when I misunderstand something and I goof it up. It just irritates me because I strive to be detail-oriented and well organized. And honestly, being a Gemini I struggle with that so I really try to make an extra effort. And then I feel bad and then it festers. Grrr....

I remember one time at work. We had to do a cell phone ping based on 2nd hand information that the person who was missing was suicidial. Mind you, there's nothing worse than 2nd hand information, (because it's often inaccurate) but we had enough within policy to do a cell phone ping. Now, there's various locations - a cell phone can ping can "hit" on - the nearest tower, within 500 feet of the actual phone, or the ping can give you the address of where the cell phone is registered. A lot depends on your carrier, payment plan, etc., what cell phone update you have, yada yada. Long story short, the supervisors pinged the phone and gave me the LAT/LONG. I ran the LAT/LONG and didn't understand it - it was coming up on a pier in Lake Tahoe - a 6 hour drive north. The phone was registered to a location in Callabass, just outside of Los Angeles, so I sent the County Sheriff's there. No one was there. They pinged the phone, and called Tahoe Police to go to the pier, but Tahoe police didn't find anything either. So did I goof up the ping? Not really, I misinterpreted it, causing a delay of about 20-30 minutes. Still, I was pissed at myself. Why didn't I call Tahoe PD? Because my brain said that phone being there made no sense with the second hand information I had received? Yeah... (I couldn't figure out how a recent sucidical threat could be a 6 hour drive away).

Mind you, I don't frequently misunderstand directions and if I'm not clear, I'll ask for clarification, but recently I thought something was clear and it wasn't. Grrr... Now I'm going to beat myself up for a bit before it settles. Sigh...

Anyhoo.. Thanks for letting me get that off my chest.
Back to regular programing.
