Scraps and scribbles from 1960 - 2015 |
| A single star rose in the sky Above the mountain peak; We marveled at the trees so high, As onward we did seek. A treasured moment in the clouds, We strove to reach the sky; Leaving far behind rowdy crowds, A mountainside good-bye. Fir trees draped with wet fallen snow, Green branches tipped in white; Gracefully bow in winter’s glow, Drop soft in faded light. Rays of cloud bands obscure the star Where daylight swiftly fades; Over the mountain’s peak afar, White clouds design brocades. Purple paints tonight’s color drop Against clouds' lining high; While we descend, the mountain stops, Misted rays bid good-bye. Line Count: 20 Common measure quatrain, more specifically hymnal meter with abab, cdcd, etc. rhyme scheme Contest Information ▶︎ |
