Wanna know what a frog has to blog about? Read on! |
If you were hired to show tourists what life is really like where you live, what would you show them or have them do? Are you kidding? I live in Houston, Texas! It would take several DAYS to see and do EVERYTHING this huge, fabulous city has to offer. We could/would spend an entire day just exploring Breckenridge Zoo. It is a sprawling 55 acres and houses over 6,000 animals and is the second most visited zoo in the United States. Then, we could easily spend another entire day at NASA Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center. Houston has an enormous museum district and these are all must-see places for two very good reasons. One, they are fun and interesting, and second, ALL of these particular ones are FREE, which is one of my most favorite words! We could spend another entire day just loafering around and visiting: The Menil Collection, Rothko Chapel, Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, Houston Center for Contemporary Craft, Lawndale Art Center, Houston Museum of African American Culture, Moody Center for the Arts, and the Houston Center for photography. And then, after spending so much time indoors, I'd load everyone up and head just a stone throw to Galveston and we could spend a good portion of an afternoon and evening at Pleasure Pier. There, you'd ride roller coasters and other flippy rides, play games, and indulge in fair foods. After all that fresh air and blood-pumping rides, we'd slow things down and stroll the Moody Gardens and smell the roses and all the other flowers as well. I'd wrap up the tour by taking everyone to 19th Street in The Heights for some shopping. There are many, many places to shop in Houston but this particular area is by far the most fun. This area is home to a vast array of vintage shops, funky shops, and thrift shops! Don't be shocked if you encounter walk-mans, bell-bottom pants, or 8 track tapes! That would conclude our tour. But, it would have only scratched the surface of what there is to do and see here in Houston. |
