| We were childhood friends, a bonding brought about by proximity of neighborhood and age. Held together by a need to belong and the exuberance of youthful feet skipping through November’s leaves that lay lifeless and brown. We were the music in those colorless days. In my autumn of years, I know a loneliness that echoes. It’s a cold wind that stirs the lifeless through memories. It reminds me of great loss and offers no restoration ahead.
