| Something’s peculiar at number twenty-nine, An unsettled feeling I can’t quite define, An eerie quiet, never a sound, No echo, no chatter, a silence profound. There’s something quite cold at number twenty-nine, I get chills passing by it, every time, Shuttered up tight, but is there an eye, That peeks through the cracks at passersby? I dare not go at night past number twenty-nine, I cannot discern that a light ever shines. Its inhabitants, like ghostly spirits, must creep, Silent and shadowless in its darkness deep. I could knock at the door, a friendly sign, Just saying “hello”, see what I find, Perhaps finally finding peace of mind, But there’s something peculiar at number twenty-nine.
