Coffee in the Afternoon

Coffee in the afternoon,
readies me for work.
This kind energy, a boon,
keeps me more alert.

Coffee in the later day
gives me quite a lift.
On my task, it helps me stay,
the truest kind of gift.

Coffee with my latest meal,
before the workday starts
gives great strength, that is quite real,
ability imparts.

Coffee as a tender friend
sits with me awhile,
causing hope to make and mend,
with lighter face, a smile.

Coffee in the afternoon,
gentle moments, rare.
When I leave, and that quite soon,
the stressors I can bear.
