Day 18 Good Friday Why I am Not a Christian On Easter Sunday, I often think about Christianity And why I am not a Christian. So, on this day I say, You have a right To believe Whatever you believe. And I have a right To believe or not to believe Whatever I want to believe. But I wanted to express My views And hope that what I have to say Will be taken as a sincere Expression of my belief And you will not be offended by what I have to say So here goes The essential story makes no sense But despite the supernatural elements and the very confusing plot lines in the Bible There are some kernels of truth “Love one again Treat each other right Don’t be consumed with greed or grievances or retribution!” But couldn’t that message Be made simpler Without all The associated supernatural rigmarole? And the Bible Needs serious editing Way too long Way too confusing Too many weird rules Too many contradictions Too many begets Who cares about the begats I finally read the bible From the beginning to the end When I was 45 I skipped the whole begats Just too boring Revelations was the best part Sort of a weird Sci-fi story Genesis was just strange The Old Testament is too violent And too confusing The New Testament to use A current word “too woke” Just saying But perhaps we can all Agree To follow the essential message Of Jesus Including a new message Many have now called for “Commit a random act Of kindness every day” Or as the Boy Scouts Motto calls for “Do a good deed every day” Even if you don’t believe The rest of the Christian Faith |
