The Graduation
When comes tonight another soul
will walk across the stage,
receive the page, that says the goal
of learning makes her sage.

The newness of adulting finds,
that youth must moderate
the whimsy of the childish kinds
to make one’s wisdom great.

What lies before? What life will be
in her career, that comes?
What gifting of the Lord will free
in showing goodness sums?

“Congratulations!” we would cheer.
The past is gone, the day is new.
“Be free from every stopping fear,
that seeks to slow or hinder you.”

So, march the aisle with head held high
full knowing, that the time is now
to honor God with your best try,
submitting ‘fore Him in a bow.
