The Gift of Rain

The rain has come, a blessed gift
to ease the painful heat.
The times we know make change so swift,
new strength when we were beat.

The Gift of Rain when life seems drained
is hope through all distress.
Amazing what some drops have gained
o'er days of sticky mess.

The Gift of Rain is just enough,
relieving the heavy load.
Such peace and joy are wondrous stuff,
a moment's rest, abode.

The Gift of Rain's a shelt'ring friend
as we take future steps
into the month where heat oft rends
all coolness to its depths.

The Gift of Rain reminds us now,
that chilly days will come
when dog days of this August bow
to He, Who is our Home.
