A blog devoted just to my scriptwriting. That’s all I’m going to blogging about here.

Sentences After all

I’m not sure how this happened, but when I woke up about an hour before my alarm was supposed to wake me up, I started thinking about continuing to work on my Water Wars scriptwriting project, aka Phase Two of it. I started to think about how the Parts and Episodes began with two main characters and ended with two main characters.

That’s okay for an Episode because each episode is individualized. That isn’t true for the Parts, aka two-parters and mini-serieses. The ending of one Part starts the beginning of the next Part, starting with Parts One and Two. This leaves only one scene separating these main characters. I never liked that, but I thought that was what I had to compromise on.

I started thinking about how I could fix this problem, and after thinking about it for a while, I came up with a solution for it. Instead of two main characters starting and ending an Act, it’s now one. That’s not the only thing that changes for this project. There are several reasons why this is a better format than the last one.

In the last format, it was two, three, two, one, two, three, and two main characters for every Act. One scene, two, two, two, two, one represented scene numbers for the secondary characters. It’s still the same format for the secondary characters, but it isn’t for the main characters. Now it’s one, three, three, one, three, three, one.

Another change is with this new format. Not only are the scene numbers changing for the main character in this project, but so are the numbers of scene fives and scene tens. In the last format, the main character for that Act had three scene fives or scene tens, and another one of the main characters had one of the scene fives or scene tens.

The other scene five belonged to one of the secondary characters. In this new format, the main character that starts and ends each Act has either a scene five or a scene ten. It also means that the secondary characters now have two scene fives or scene tens in every Act. It’s more evenly matched. That’s why I like this new format.

Unfortunately, all this means I’m not finished with Phase One of this project after all. It’s mostly the scene numbering that needs updating, but it’s also some of the storylines slightly. Updating the scene numbers for the nine Act Breakdowns wasn’t too hard. After all, the first three Parts or Episodes represent the other six Parts or Episodes.

That is what I have been doing all day today, updating these nine Parts or Episodes when I had the time to do work on this project. Unfortunately, I didn’t have too much time to work on it. I had enough time to get my spreadsheet for this project done and the nine Act Breakdowns done. All I need to do with them now is write the sentences associated with these characters.

I started working on the first three Parts for this project, but I didn’t get very far with it. So far, I have deleted the old sentences for each character, leaving only the character’s names. The scene number for each character was also started today. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the time to do anything more with this project today.
