I like to visualize myself if I had started taking care of my body 25 years ago. I can picture myself being lean and muscular with six-pack abs, 18-inch arms, and huge shoulders. If I ever get out of this rut I’m currently in, I don’t think there will be one a-ha moment. It will be an accumulation of thinking about the way I want to be, versus how I am now.

A lot of small choices go into making someone fat and out of shape, and the same is true for getting from fat to fit. If I exercised daily, the difference after six months would be drastic compared to not exercising at all for that same period of time.

If I was to start on a strict diet and exercise program, it would take at least a year and a half to make any decent progress. This is why I need to start as soon as possible and maintain it, because if I don’t start soon, it might never happen.

Another revelation I had is that I don’t need to buy cheese. If I have the ingredients to make chili con carne, there is no need to add cheese to it. Cheese is just needless calories and fat.

I bought a slab of cooked turkey breast from Costco. I made sandwiches with it, and chili con carne. This is a great protein source with no nitrates or nitrites. I wish I would’ve found out about this many years ago, I would’ve bought it.

I also bought frosted mini wheats, as a cheat meal it’s the healthiest junk food cereal I’ve bought. I need to buy this more often. I want to go six months without candy, pastries, or any junk cereal other than frosted mini wheats. That’s from November 2025 until May 2026.

I’m trying intermittent fasting with a 16 hour fast and 8 hour eating window. The main advantage for me is that by cramming all of my eating into an 8 hour time frame, I’m forced to eat less food overall throughout the day, and that helps more than limiting insulin spikes in my opinion.

Another advantage over regular dieting is that I’m only hungry before breakfast, when I go to bed I’m not really that hungry. With regular dieting, I’m extremely hungry three times a day, and that makes it more difficult to sustain.
