Narrative about planning what to write and how I do it for a book. |
Hello everyone, I’ve reached the point where I need to clearly picture Rania’s surroundings—the neighborhood she chose, the privacy she guards, and the landscape that shapes her daily life. For her work, I placed her in Annapolis, Maryland, but her home is tucked away in a small community called Arden on the Severn, in Anne Arundel County. Her mailing address, however, lists Crownsville, Maryland, which adds a nice touch of realism. If someone saw her address, they wouldn’t immediately know exactly where she lived. That suits Rania perfectly. I chose a street name that felt peaceful and a little hidden: Willow Cove Loop. A few homes sit right on the water, and two of them belong to our key characters. Rania Evans 124 Willow Cove Loop Crownsville, MD Marcus Richardson 138 Willow Cove Loop Crownsville, MD Below is the map I sketched. The stars mark the homes The triangles mark nearby towns The circle is Willow Cove Loop Rania’s and Marcus’s houses are indicated The docks and shoreline are outlined in blue Rania’s home is intentionally private, surrounded by trees and a stretch of marsh. Seeing it drawn out this way helps me keep the setting consistent in my mind. It’s not meant to be artistic—just functional and personal. Next, I’ll share some of my notes. I’m not ready for a full outline yet, but these early pieces help guide where the story will grow. Kind wishes, Tee |
