Principles for  peace

A prince by birth
Discarded luxury
Found solutions
For man’s miseries.

Insulates self with
Fruitful detachment
Recommends charity
Of talk, thought and deed.

Light is within to seek
By dwelling in the soul.
Rise above the contraries
Nothing else is more blissful.

Kindness to men and beings
Brings us closer to salvation
Buddha’s teachings, we remember
On this holy day of his enlightenment.
