A wealthy female banker is blackmailed by her employer and FBI |
| Margery burst through the boardroom almost taking the glass door off its hinges and slammed it behind her. The board stood at the top of the room surrounding Myles, who positioned himself beside two large wall-mounted screens that dominated three quarters of the space. Myles - slender and sharp-featured, stood five foot seven and towered over the other directors. His grey hair was slicked back with glossy wax. His pink shirt with crisp white collar and cuffs gave him the look of a movie mafia gangster. He smirked at Margery "Have you never heard of knocking?" Margery glared at him, forcing herself to stand as straight as she could. Her shoulders, neck, and cheeks burned, concern for her blood pressure momentarily forgotten. “You bastard!” she shouted. “How could you?” "You of all people Margery will be aware respect in the workplace is a key corporate value" the nasally tone of Human Resources (HR) director Henrietta Fowler-Brown irritated Margery. Margery returned the gaze at the ear-piercing toned HR Director. Henrietta—forty-four, five foot six—stood rigid in a tight, sleeveless light-grey pinafore. Like all her outfits, carefully chosen to highlight her toned frame Margery ignored the urge to smack her "Two other key corporate values Henrietta you of all people should be aware" she spat out with venom "Dignity and Fairness, both of which you all totally denied to Alan along side respect, hypocrites!!" Her heart pounded like a speeding sports car. Myles extended out his long slender arms, sleaziness oozed from every pore in his body "It's okay Henrietta, let her speak". Margery stepped closer towards them, her burned with fury "The success of this bank is down to Alan and no one else" She paused to gather her thoughts and take a breather "NONE OF US, ARE WORTHY TO EVEN TIE HIS SHOE LACES" Myles glances across at the other directors smirking "You're a businesswoman, you should know it's nothing personal just business!" Margery stared at him, open mouthed in horror and dumbfounded by his lack of compassion "Nothing personal!" she snaps "You entrapped and blackmailed him and his poor wife not long finished chemotherapy" She clenched her jaw, her heart hammering like a supersonic Jet "YOU DISGUIST ME!" she snarled Myles clasped his hands together as he looked towards Security Director Steven Lee "Do you hear her" he laughed. Steven at five foot six, aged fifty, wore an unfashionable cheap polyester yellow paisley tie, poorly presented across his pot belly. He nodded in agreement. 'No surprise there!' thought Margery to herself. Steven was known as the weasel. He would do whatever it took to benefit him. "Margery I'm fair, Alan can of course appeal, but given his wife's condition, I think it would be really unfair and selfish of him to put her through that, I think you'll agree his behaviour was not acceptable!". 'You psychopath' Margery thought to herself "You know he was only two to four years away from retiring, you could have waited". She paused glaring in disgust at him "But no, you showed yourself up to be what you are" Pausing, clenching her jaw again "Greedy" Myles folded his arms "Margery, look in the mirror, and you will see a fat cat banker that's gotten rich from the bank and who kept demanding more and more and guess what??? - Got it all and more!" Prudence's lower chin wobbled with rage at what she considered a snide remark "Well I never entrapped or blackmailed anyone for my gain. I resi-". she stopped, just remembering what Alan told her instantly regretting her slip. Myles stepped closer "Resign will you?" he mocked, "who will hire you? your like an old locomotive, that's ran out of steam". He stopped and looked across at each board member for their approval "Go home Margery, get some rest, you're exhausted and not thinking clear!". His words struck a nerve, she wondered if they had noticed her energy levels drop!. "I have more energy than you'll ever have! She turned around and stormed out. She entered her office and slammed the door behind her. She sank herself into her leather chair, breathing fast and shallow. Her rapid heart pounded like it could burst out of her chest anytime. She realised, this was the end for her. |
