Task 2: January 15th - 28th
This is a task that requires me to wax poetic on some big writing project that’s been plaguing the ol’ noggin and just won’t come to its evitable fruition.

Unfortunately, I regret to say that I really have no such thing waiting in the wings at this time.

There’s something rather depressing about revealing that, but then again, it goes to show the state of my current offline conditions that make the art of writing much more difficult than it used to be.

Back in my younger days (insert the typical old crony sitting on the rocking chair about to start up the lecture routine. Hah!) Seriously though, back then, I could churn out novel-like stories and even when I found myself struggling, stepping away from the computer for some time and finding inspiration in reading novels, listening to music, or watching movies was a key to getting the muses roaring again.

Now, when I step into my writing accounts on AO3 or Fanfiction.net account (yes, fanfiction was my introduction to all of this), I marvel at the 500k chaptered stories I could churn out! I kid you not – Sin  Open in new Window.

Where the heck has that girl gone to?

Where is that Muse that could make me sit up for hours on end, just typing away as if possessed?

I want to bring her back so much, because the stories are still buried inside somewhere; it’s being able to conjure up the ‘energy’ to push it out when weariness, aching joints, and a plethora of adult concerns keep you de-motivated…for the most part.

Until then, I take solace in being able to participate in ‘small’ activities like
"26 Paychecks Open in new Window., "The Writer's CrampOpen in new Window., and "Daily Flash Fiction ChallengeOpen in new Window. to keep those embers still burning even if it’s not as strong these days.

So, no – I might not be churning out another 500k novel anytime soon, but these little nuggets of my imagination are a wonderful reminder that the writer still lives on within.
