Does anyone know where that saying comes from? Put up your dukes? Just curious.

I'm currently working on a piece that was originally due a month ago but which has been delayed. Yeah! It's a very emotional piece about my divorce and I'm really struggling. It's been a few years yet the wounds still feel fresh when I'm reliving it through my writing.

Write what you know. I don't want to know about divorce right now. I'm crabby. This is incomprehenisble.
