A collection of magical children stories.{re-write in progress) |
Sugar Plum felt the blood rushing to her head. But she wasn't going to let them know that. She was not sure exactly what was falling from the sky, but she felt in her gut, something awful was bound to happen. "You, with the horns, tell me why you need to go to the Palace of the Faeries?" She demanded trying to keep the tremors out of her voice. She felt a growing weakness. Just floating felt tiresome. "That's not your concern!" growled the wolf. "Mr.Wolf!" said Mr.Owl "Can't you see she's the only living thing we've seen so far. She can give us the way to the palace." "Very well. Little girl, you must give us the way to the palace. It's important that we reach it tonight." "Or else?" said Sugar "Or Else?!" said Mr.Goat "Or else? We all die." "What!" it was too much for the little pixie who swooned and winked out to the soft moss. "Oh dear." excalimed the goat "Way to go,Goat. Now what are we going to do."asked the wolf "First,." bending down to scoop the little pixie "We find shelter from this rain. Then we wake her up and we politely ..ask her the way to the palace." "Mr.Goat, I'm going to put her in your bag and fly overhead to see if I can find us some shelter." said the owl He gently placed the pixie in the bag alongside the book and watched in amazement as she instantly became aglow. She scooted over to the book and leaned on the warm leather snoring softly."Such wonderful little creature" With that he swept up to the rainy skies. After what seemed and eternity he came back and landed without grace. His face looked exhausted. He leaned on a tree trunk for support. "It's about time." said the wolf "Shut up, Mr.Wolf, can't you see there is something wrong with him. Mr.Owl, what's the matter? Are you ill?" asked Mr.Goat "Yes, I'm weak. The rain washes the magic out of us. Soon we will be too weak to go on if we don't get to the cave fast." he slipped to the floor. "Hold on dear friend. Where's this cave?" asked Mr.Goat "Just over the hill. Behind a group of rocks to your right." he closed his eyes "You folks go ahead. I am too weak already." "Nonsense." bending his body next to the owl" Climb on my back.We came together and we'll leave together." "Let's us hurry,Mr.Wolf." the goat was already making his way up the hill. The rocky path was slippery even to him. The rain was turning everything golden and the brightness was blinding. When they came to the top of the hill they spotted the grouped rocks. The cave was partially hidden by the rocks and a giant sycamore tree. The friends made it inside the cave. The inside was slightly chilly and they shivered from the dampness of their fur. "I wish we had a fire. I miss having hands." said Mr. Goat "I don't remember how they felt." said Mr.Wolf look- -ing out at the rain. "I could make fire" said a little voice " All I need is something we can burn." said Sugar Plum leaning out of the sadle bag "But with the rain outside everything must be soaked!" "Hmm." she was thinking " Perhaps we can rip out a page from the book?" "Noo!" screamed the goat and the wolf "Alright, already!." she flew out of the bag and looked around the cave. "Something..I got it!" snapping her fingers "I'll be right back." with that she quickly flew to the cave's opening and flew on to the nearest bush. When she emerged she was covered with a leaf that she had tied as a makeshift raincoat. She looked funny. "I have to find a dragon's breath. Where? Let's see." "Ha" she laughed "I know where there's some. By the Winking Star River bank!" she sped away happy that she could help. Her mother and father were probably worried sick about her, but they needed her help. Something inside told her she was doing the right thing. She spotted the dragon's breath and braced herself for a fight. She pushed her little sleeves towards her elbows and planted her feet on the ground. Sugar Plum held a stem on her hands when the Dragon's Breath turn and fire a fire ball. She yalped out of way and it came within an inch of her head. It singed her bangs which the rain quickly turned off. She put two fingers to hold it up and stared at the burned tip. "HA,ha,Ha,ha!" chuckled a mischivious little voice. She pretended to ignore it. She wasn't in the mood for a fight. "You know,Sugar Plum." he was now leaning on the Dragon's Breath. "That's not the best way to catch one of these babies." "Oh, really.?" She said crossing her arms over her chest "Care to demonstrate?" if he insisted on being a show-off. "Certainly.But.." He said flying around her looking her up and down. "What do I get in return?" "Why you little baboon!" she turned a bright red "Whoa, Sugar. Calm down. I just wanted a little kiss." "After I saw you, making sweet with that horrible Apple Tart.Never!" She began again tugging on the flower. "Please." he asked one more time "I promise to take you to the Summer Ball." She gasped. The Summer Ball was the most important in Magical Land and she didn't have a date yet. "Alright. But just a small one." She leaned in and puckered her lips at him. She looked silly. All wrap up in that cape. Her blue- violet eyes closed and her pretty pink pout were the most beautiful he had ever seen. He put his little hands to her pretty cheeks and kissed her gently. Then he stepped back. Dandelion watched her open her eyes in wonder and saw the smile that spread on her mouth. "oooooh, I love You, I love You, mua, mua!" she kissed him all over the face. " Sugar, sugar , wait, let's get the flower." his heart was beating and he felt warm inside. He tickled the flower which in turn jumped right out off the ground and laughed all the way to the cave where she agreed to blaze a fire during the night if they brought her home in the morning. Mr. Owl now feeling better whispered to his friends: "I've heard tales about pixies in the past. I always knew they existed. I was told that a faerie's love is very strong. It's said that when a pixie falls in love they do , forever." He nodded towards the tiny couple that sat near the Dragon's Breath. The courageous Dandelion was threading magical hearts in front of Sugar Plum and she was sprinkling them with faery dust, her merry laughter tinkling in the night. |
