A collection of magical children stories.{re-write in progress) |
Then rain had stopped but the skies still rolled with the boiling clouds. They were all standing by the Winking Stars River. "Sugar Plum. How do you suggest we get on the river?" asked Mr. Owl " It's .." he searched for word. "Unbelievable" suggested Mr.Wolf "Yes! Unbelievable!" laughed the owl The river was like floating constellation of stars. Clearly they could see fish swimming in it. They seemed to be swimming upstream; pulled by an invisible current. "We need to call our friends the Morphins." said Dandelion "They are the fastest" "Fast is very good. Call them" said Mr. Goat "Had it ever rained so hard before?" asked Mr.Owl "No,never. Here on Magical Land nothing is ever truly bad or evil. We do have our occasional trickster" he nodded towards Sugar who blushed "but nothing too terrible." said Dandelion. "I'm afraid there is no other possible answer than Mr. Magoosh is on to us, folks." said a Mr.Owl a worried look painting his eyes. "Magoosh! Call the Morfins! Whatever they are and let us go on our way." exclaimed Mr.Goat Both pixies put their hands clasped about their mouths and began to sway with the wind.Although no sound could be heard until the winds began to pick up. It was a mellodous symphony of sounds as sweet as honey. Their voices were like the whispers of the pine trees and the call of the ocean. Suddenly they heard them coming. One after the other the Morfins glided to a halt just offshore bickering hello to their new friends. "Chehi,Kusak. Chime chiand chisugar chineed chiyour chihelp chito chiget chito chithe chipa chilace." said Dandelion. "What are you saying?" asked Mr.Goat confused "SSHH. He's speaking Elvish. That is the national spoken language of the kingdom." said Sugar wringing her fingers. The Morfins resembled dolphins, but they were the iridescent colors of a water painting. They seemed to flicker in and out of focus.... The Morfins answered enthusiastically and motioned with their heads to the nearing darkness. "They say that they heard through the grapevines that we have the book that can save us all, and they want to help" said Dandelion climbing astride the magnificent creature."Come along then!" The rest of the party tried to climb the Morphins but it prove impossible with the hooves, nails and talons. "Now, what shall we do?" asked Mr.Goat "Should we swim for it, Mr.Goat, as Mr.Owl flies up?" asked Mr.Wolf pacing the water's edge impatiently. "I'm afraid is too far a distane for even you Wolf." said Sugar Plum."Wait! How about we ask the Water Pixies for help!" "I don't know, Sugar. That bunch are to playful and this is a serious situation...I guess if we have no other choice" Dandelion finished as he heard the distant sound of thunder. "All right. Brace yourselves." she planted her feet firmly apart and blew from a tiny seashell necklace hanging from her neck. The shrill noise was unbearable. Everyone winced. The river began to swell in thunderous waves and the Morfins began to change shapes excitedly. As the water continued to lap at the pebbles the saw the first Water Faery leap hi and plunge. Not too far behind a school of pixies, all racing towards them out of control. "I'm gonna win. I'm gonna win!" taunted the little turquoise color mermadling. "Not if I get them fiirrst!" hollered a blue one "I told you it was a bad idea." Dandelion braced himself as the blue water boy tackled him and flew him into the water. "Hey, bro, long time no see. How you doing?" Dandelion found himself looking into a pair of eyes identical to his yellow ones. Instead, the ones looking down at him were the color of a stormy sea if ever there was one. "So, how is dry land treating you?" he asked "Get off me Blumar!" "I don't think so" said Blumar crossing his arms If there was anyone Dandelion could not stand up agaisnt was his twin brother, Blumar. If there was anyone who could help them get to the Palace it was him, thought Sugar Plum. "All right, you two!" she snapped turning a dark shade of plum "You are going to make up and stop this silliness immediatetly! We should be working together at a time like this." "Well said, Sugar" said Mr.Owl "Gentlefaeries, calm" "The fate of the World, both Magical and Real rest on our shoulders." At this everyone stopped short and a quietness settle like doom. Thunder clapped not too far. |
