I remember

I remember

After years of gap
I return to the place
I have been granted
In the scheme of creation.

I remember as waves
Of gladness lap against
My heart, the place with
Home fires burning bright

The smoke rising, spiraling
In the evening mist like
Dreams from a romantic heart.
I recall the hermit’s habitat,

A neat clean hut in the forest
of tall trees, thick bush, a clear
Stream, a sedate flow on grainy
ground like peace meandering

through hamlets and cities spreading
the message of fruitful co-existence.

My heart remembers…
