15 minute brainstorm

Gabe’s interaction with Cornelius is tentative at best. He tried to become Cornelius’s lab assistant before he signed on with Drakkon, but he didn’t get it because of Chase! Chase is Leigh’s pet name that Cornelius, her father, uses for her. It’s short for Chastity and also has a masculine tone to it to deter people from making assumptions about Leigh’s work before meeting her. In the end, Gabe is at odds with Cornelius because of Drakkon, as Cornelius assumes that Gabe is as corrupted as Drakkon when really Drakkon pays Gabe so much money that he has kept silent but is not aware of the bigger picture that Drakkon is working on. Drakkon assigns small tasks to Gabe and separates them so that Gabe doesn’t put together what he’s doing until he overhears Drakkon setting up the bomb. Then it all becomes clear to him. In the end, Gabe is given Cornelius’s approval but only after he tries to disable the bomb, and Cornelius orders him out of the building. I still have to flesh out details for the lab explosion, I keep going back and forth between Cornelius thinking Gabe set the bomb and Cornelius working alongside Gabe to disable the bomb, but orders Gabe out when it becomes clear it won’t happen. He deceives Gabe into thinking he’s got it, and then tells Gabe to leave that he’s right behind him. It’s a little late, but Gabe survives with the help of Leigh. Cornelius is fatally wounded and dies when Leigh gets there. I think this is the direction I want to go. I need to flesh out details for the mechanics of the prosthetics that Gabe gets through Leigh, but I think I need to research prosthetics and how they are built. Also might reference The Clockwork Dagger for information on how to describe some of the devices.
