Whispers in the Wind The hush is broken by a sound, a hollow whisper in the night. I raise my head to look around. Imagination feeds my fright I strain and though my ears deny that anything is now amiss, the mem’ry of a fading cry still haunts me in night’s dark abyss. “Perhaps it’s only wind,” I say, “that stimulates my sense of fear.” Then darkness moves within the gray light. Monster spiders coming near! I watch as they surround my bed, their movements as they flow and ebb, knowing that I’ll soon be dead at they spin their silken web. With a start, I sit upright. Was it no more than a dream, whispers of the wind at night causing me to toss and scream? I try to move but find I’m caught - sheets are wrapped around me tight.. With a laugh, I see what brought monsters to my dreams at night. I grab a paper, jot a note, which is this Daily Poem I wrote. ![]() ![]() An entry for the October 11th round of "The Daily Poem" ![]() Prompt: Whispering Winds Words to Use: hollow, haunt, stimulate, deny, hush Poetry Form: Any of your choice.
