#44 through #47 and new lens

Lots of new common birds this week:
#44, American Robin
#45, Tundra Swan
#46, Sharp-shinned Hawk
#47, Turkey Vulture

I got a new toy   for my upcoming birthday! It's not one of the $1k super awesome lenses that I'd love to own one day. It's a cheaper $100 manual 500mm lens. It allows me a much closer view, but I have to manually focus it. It weighs about 3.5 lbs so it's kind of heavy, too. Thankfully, it fits my telescope tripod, so that will help! I can't wait to try it out some more!

I did visit a local Bald Eagle nest today. The first time I drove by, both eagles were in the nest! When I drove by later, both eagles were sitting in a tree near the road. I took these two photos   to compare the new 500mm lens to my original 50mm lens.

I'm going on a bird walk tomorrow, and the weather is going to be great!
