The Sword Of Truth
The Sword Of Truth

Look into the water.
Is it murky
or does it appear pure?
This sword will only emerge
for one who is going to see,
to act upon
the truth,
the whole truth,
and nothing but the truth.
If you are prepared
to turn off empathy,
disassociate from emotions,
maybe you'll see the ripples
that precede the sword.
And here she is,
a diamond hilt,
engraved casing,
beckoning to your hand
to see if it will fit;
if the rest of the blade
you're prepared to lift.
The sharpest steel
needs a sharpened tongue -
one that is willing
to spit out the words,
as unpalatable as they
will surely be.
You'll make no friends
by speaking those words
for the truth rarely likes to be
what is heard.
This sword can be yours
if you are willing to
pull it from beneath the water;
but there'll be no going back,
no second thoughts,
and this Queen of swords
will insist on clarity, on openness
no matter what the cost in enmity
will be.
