Music and dance bend the boundaries of race, politics and religion. That tapestry of life is felt best when worn close to the senses. Even when done remotely on social media, it softens the taste, the sight and sound, erasing the feeling of isolation.
Such holiday celebrations cost nothing more than opening one’s eyes and ears. Fascination and attention take care of themselves. Participation may be only a rhythm of tapping fingers and pulsing heartbeat or extend into voicing the shared feeling of communion.
Differences become something to be treasured. For a moment the fractures between groups are healed. What a blessing this simple solution is to a world caught up in ill well.
