WELCOME TO: GEMINI RISING ![]() UPDATED INTRO 30 JUNE 2025: Just a little about me. I've been married for 33 years this past NOV and currently live in Southern California, but I grew up in New Hampshire. me in my 20's I've got 2 boys who are young adults. ![]() I work as a 911 dispatcher for LAPD. I enjoy my job a lot. Still. If you can believe that. I love to write. Thankfully both of my boys achieved Eagle Scout. My Scouting days are over and I'm back to focusing on my writing. I like to get out in nature, drink coffee and watch football. Here's a little bio about my zodiac. GEMINI: Gemini, the sign of the Twins, is dual-natured, elusive, complex and contradictory. On the one hand it produces the virtue of versatility, and on the other the vices of two-facedness and flightiness. The sign is linked with Mercury, the planet of childhood and youth, and its subjects tend to have the graces and faults of the young. When they are good, they are very attractive; when they are bad they are more the worse for being the charmers they are. Like children they are lively, and happy, if circumstances are right for them, or egocentric, imaginative and restless. Their good qualities are attractive and come easily to them. They are affectionate, courteous, kind, generous, and thoughtful towards the poor and suffering - provided none of the activities resulting from expressing these traits interferes too greatly with their own lives and comforts. Geminians can be successful in many walks of life though their general characteristics tend to make them unreliable. They are often skilled manipulators of language, in speech and writing, and may be: debaters, diplomats (though in politics they are more interested in theory than practice), orators, preachers (brilliant rather than profound), teachers, authors, poets, journalists, or lawyers. | I actually had some good ideas for blog entries, but I didn't write them down and I forgot them! Sigh... Sometimes Stickie notes really need to be in your back pocket, right? WEATHER Well the Santa Ana's are back. It's pretty windy these days and depending, that wind chill can take the temps down into the 40's. Now the 40's might be a cool summer day in New England, but in SoCal, it's freezing. CHRISTMAS Andy and I took down the Christmas decorations today, boxed them up and put them in the garage. Sniff... I miss Christmas already. Well, you know what I miss? The Extra good vibes. Andy and I are planning to go to Church to the 12:30 mass. I have to sleep before I go to mass and the 12:30 is a good mass with not as many people. My daily readings have been from John this past week, which I've enjoy as they've been talking about love, God, and faith. STRETCH I'm on a 6 day stretch at work which wouldn't be so bad if I was worked normal hours but I'm working at night and sleeping the day away. I did manage to do the dishes and laundry on Friday. READING I'm working on "Little House in the Hollywood Hills" by Charlotte Stewart who played Miss Beadle. Who knew Miss Beadle was wild? Did you know she took a road trip up the 101 in California with Jim Morrison. He was fat and had a beard. Next thing she knows he's off to Paris with Pam. Wild times. Reading her book makes me reflect how simple things were in the 70's. AI I hear people are using AI around town here on WDC. I just want to put this out there now. I will never use AI in my writing. Writing, at least for me, is about the creative process. It's also decompression. I may not be perfect, but when you read something I wrote, you'll hear my voice and know it's me. Now, I may have templates, especially for reviewing, but I try to do my best to give my honest assessment of what I read in my review. Now get this, they're trying to bring AI to the dispatch center with non-emergency calls. Mind you, I missed that roll call, but they want AI to transcribe what the caller says. I guess other places use it with success. I suppose it might be a useful tool, but I think you lose a little something when you use it. That personal touch? We have training on it coming up soon. PIZZA Saturday nights are usually pretty busy here at the dispatch center, so I try to bring in a Saturday night snack. Tonight I brought in Dominos pizza. I brought in 5 med. pizzas each with one topping. I think the co-workers appreciate it. It's something nice when you're working hard. Q for you: what's your favorite pizza place? |
