Just a little about me. I've been married for 33 years this past NOV and currently live in Southern California, but I grew up in New Hampshire.

I've got 2 boys who are young adults.

The family waits in line to get on next to the Ship.

I work as a 911 dispatcher for LAPD. I enjoy my job a lot. Still. If you can believe that.

I love to write. Thankfully both of my boys achieved Eagle Scout. My Scouting days are over and I'm back to focusing on my writing.

I like to get out in nature, drink coffee and watch football.

Here's a little bio about my zodiac.

GEMINI: Gemini, the sign of the Twins, is dual-natured, elusive, complex and contradictory. On the one hand it produces the virtue of versatility, and on the other the vices of two-facedness and flightiness. The newer cars are more expensive too because of all the fancy electronics. Heck, I got a scratch in my windshield and it cost me 600 bucks to replace because of the sensors and we have a 1000 deductible to help keep costs down! I have a cash envelope system where I put 20 dollars away a week, but that envelope is pretty much tapped out now.

The calls have changed over the years. Nowadays we get A LOT of mental illness, but when I was first hired, not as much - we used to get a lot of theft from stores but not so much.

I've been reading a lot of memoirs recently - Melissa Gilbert, Charlotte Stewart, Just finished Ann-Margret and some of then had some interesting stories. I'd be interested in hearing some of your crazy calls!

Ditto! I'm going to follow the call and see how they dispo which I rarely do. They canvased the area but not sure for what. There's another unit still to dispo. One dispo'd medical only, but that doesn't really tell me anything.

My city had plenty of crime when I worked the emergency lines... but our first thought was never 'terrorist'. Stupid? Sure, lots of stupid then... and now.

There are days I'm happy I don't have a car. The cost and stress would get to me.

Ugh, any car repair over a couple hundred bucks stresses me out!

And yeah, Los Angeles has some real weirdos. I can't imagine the kinds of calls you get as a 911 operator. Heck, the calls I get as a movie studio executive are crazy enough and there's rarely dynamite involved in those!

Tea at midnight is a lovely thing!

I don't eat meat on Friday during Lent, either. I made Chilean sea bass for dinner last night. That fish is so tasty!

Sounds like the oil wasn't hot enough when they threw the fish in. Thus a soggy, disappointing meal.

My niece did a lot of research on our family genealogy.

With the unusually warm weather here in SoCal, the people are acting like it's summer so crime is up. We all have to work more - more calls coming in, more police activity. Having supportive co-workers really makes the time you're working rewarding.

MIDNIGHT TEA
If anything, my watch (shift) co-workers are really great about hosting moral support events. Most of the times those events are food oriented. Tonight we had Midnight Tea. The theme? English Tea. We had cucumber sandwiches, chicken sandwiches, strawberries, scones, and tea. I took a picture. I'll probably share on my facebook page. Now there was a fee, ($10.00) which I happily paid. The decorations really added to the ambience and it was a nice touch for us middle of the night workers. Another co-worker gives out everyday prizes like dish soap and cookies for emergencies and on occasion will host Bingo. Every two weeks I bring in pizza on Saturday night.

FISH FRY
Andy and I went to Monty's Sport Bar for Fish today. It's Lent so we try to go meatless on Friday. The beer battered fish was a tad soggy, thus, making it disappointing. Like it soaked in the fryer not as long as it could have? BUT the coleslaw and garlic parm fries were great and the drinks were happy hour prices so I can't complain. Still, I feel like Lent this year is not the same. I can't find good fish anywhere.

I saw a show called "Do you know who are?" It's a genealogy show and they always interest me. In this show, Marisa Tomei went to Italy to solve the mystery of her great grandfather's murder. It was quite an adventure. Her parents were both Italian. It was an interesting story. I might have to write a genealogy story one day.
