Just a little about me. I've been married for 33 years this past NOV and currently live in Southern California, but I grew up in New Hampshire.

I've got 2 boys who are young adults.

The family waits in line to get on next to the Ship.

I work as a 911 dispatcher for LAPD. I enjoy my job a lot. Still. If you can believe that.

I love to write. Thankfully both of my boys achieved Eagle Scout. My Scouting days are over and I'm back to focusing on my writing.

I like to get out in nature, drink coffee and watch football.

Here's a little bio about my zodiac.

GEMINI: Gemini, the sign of the Twins, is dual-natured, elusive, complex and contradictory. The newer cars are more expensive too because of all the fancy electronics. Heck, I got a scratch in my windshield and it cost me 600 bucks to replace because of the sensors and we have a 1000 deductible to help keep costs down! I have a cash envelope system where I put 20 dollars away a week, but that envelope is pretty much tapped out now.

The calls have changed over the years. Nowadays we get A LOT of mental illness, but when I was first hired, not as much - we used to get a lot of theft from stores but not so much.

I've been reading a lot of memoirs recently - Melissa Gilbert, Charlotte Stewart, Just finished Ann-Margret and some of then had some interesting stories. I'd be interested in hearing some of your crazy calls!

Ditto! I'm going to follow the call and see how they dispo which I rarely do. They canvased the area but not sure for what. There's another unit still to dispo. One dispo'd medical only, but that doesn't really tell me anything.

My city had plenty of crime when I worked the emergency lines... but our first thought was never 'terrorist'. Stupid? Sure, lots of stupid then... and now.

There are days I'm happy I don't have a car. The cost and stress would get to me.

Ugh, any car repair over a couple hundred bucks stresses me out!

And yeah, Los Angeles has some real weirdos. I can't imagine the kinds of calls you get as a 911 operator. Heck, the calls I get as a movie studio executive are crazy enough and there's rarely dynamite involved in those!

Tea at midnight is a lovely thing!

I don't eat meat on Friday during Lent, either. I made Chilean sea bass for dinner last night. That fish is so tasty!

Sounds like the oil wasn't hot enough when they threw the fish in. Thus a soggy, disappointing meal.

My niece did a lot of research on our family genealogy.

With the unusually warm weather here in SoCal, the people are acting like it's summer so crime is up. We all have to work more - more calls coming in, more police activity. Having supportive co-workers really makes the time you're working rewarding.

Brain Dead and Books

BRAIN DEAD

So yesterday, I was about 2 hours into my overtime shift and it hit me! I went Brain Dead. I hadn't been Brain Dead in quite a while. Up until that point, I'd been up for about 14 hours so I was naturally tired.

Brain Dead is when I simply don't have enough gas in the brain to really think, so the best way to stay awake is to continue to not use a lot of brain power.

The good news was, I was on the radio. The terminology was routine and I knew the commands like the back of my hand. And thankfully, after 8 pm the units don't talk much. There's not too much excitement on the rails and buses after 8 pm.

But I couldn't focus. Sigh.... I FINALLY

found the story I wanted to write for my Veterans Group entry BUT I didn't have enough focus to do it. I did some good research, though and I hope to get started today. We'll see what shakes out.

After that was over, I started reading. I'm re-reading my book I bought back in 2007 called "Wonderful Tonight," written by Pattie Boyd. I'm a big Beatles fan so I'm always game to pick up Beatles stuff.

In 2011, Pattie went to Catalina Island in July and I was there was well. She was exhibiting her photos and autographing her book. Let me tell you, I was determined to meet her and obtain her autograph. It was a wonderful night for me. Back then, the family went to Catalina Island often for the 4th of July weekend. We'd go about 2 July and come back around 6 July. On 2 July, she was there hosting a rare event. I was thrilled. We talked a little and it was awesome to meet her. What an incredible life she led! Anyhoo I'm re-reading the book and just enjoying it. I think if you're a Beatles fan you'll enjoy it, too. Her and George hit off right away and had a lot in common. George had gone fishing off the coast of Catalina in 1971 and he had enjoyed his visit. It was right before his concert for Bangladesh. Both her and George went vegetarian early in their marriage (Jellyfish -STOP THE WAR!✌️

and she was happy to follow him to India with Ravi Shanker. She also enjoyed modeling a lot and had a lot of jobs. Considering how she grew up - more on that later - she gave me the impression she was a just an easy going person wanting to experience all she could.

Okay, off to read another chapter...
